Just proud of myself!

I’ve finished for maternity leave today and I’m due on Monday… just feeling really proud and blessed and wanted to share something positive. Now it’s just a waiting game for baby boy to make an appearance 🩵🥳

I’m so lucky and blessed to have been able to work so long!

37 and 5 days today and today was my last day at work. Such a relief!

wooo! Go mama. We get to relax now 🥳

So ... the dreaded question 'is baby here now?' Are you okay?

Avatar

no, he is not. I’m feeling quite disappointed in my body for not being ready for labour but I know I’m taking all the right steps to get baby boy here.

Avatar

Your baby will come when he is ready and your body will facilitate it. Remember due dates are estimations, our babies don’t have a calendar event marked :)

Avatar

I keep telling myself this but today my midwife was saying that as baby gets bigger my placenta won’t be able to nourish him enough and I’m more likely to have a still birth 😞

Avatar

your body has been amazing and it doesn't mean it is not ready for labour. Our babies are the ones in control now and will come when they are ready, please do not stress mummy! They say that generically because thats what they expect. Isn't he only 40+ 4 or so days? Baby can go up to 42 weeks and depending where you are and the health team you can even be given additional days. Please dont listen to the worst scenario advice and start expecting it. Very unhelpful!

Avatar

yes I’m 40+ 4. Just having a bit of a down day today. I’m sure my body and baby know what is happening

Avatar

, completely agree with . There is a lot of fear mongering, especially in the UK, there is a bad habit of telling women they are late when they go over 40 weeks. Up to 42 weeks is normal gestation. And even then, you have a choice, you don’t have to have an induction, you can ask for increased monitoring to reassure you that baby is well. Also look into the increased risk, actually ask them what the number is. So depending on the study, the risk can be 0.11 per 1000 births being still born at 37 weeks versus 3.88 at 42 weeks. That’s actually really low…. So yes there is an increased risk but do feel confident to ask your midwife to actually tell you what the risk is…. Your body has nourished your baby all these months, have faith that it will continue doing so.

Avatar

thank you so much, I needed to hear this today

Avatar

ooh yes! Your body has done it for 9 months and baby has been loving it up. They will continue to work together to bring baby into the world 🧡 All the best & do keep me posted if you can! 💐

Friends wedding abroad

Hi all. I know this is FTM... But really need advice. I am currently pregnant with baby #2. Only 8 weeks. I didn't want to tell anyone yet, my partner and boss knows (needed for risk assessment reasons annoyingly). My friend is getting married in a remote part of Spain in ~3 months. I've already had a few minor complications, pain, bleeding, vanishing twin... I got preeclampsia last pregnancy and a terrible birth.
I am pretty sure I don't feel comfortable flying and then travelling out to a remote part of Spain during pregnancy. It will just be me and my toddler. I know it's overcautious but I just don't feel comfortable. I'm not even sure if I am going to be classified as high risk pregnancy or not.
How do I handle this? I need to tell her ASAP, but I didn't really want to tell anyone yet as doc told me miscarriage risk is a bit increased with vanishing twin. Any ideas?

Anxious/depressed

My first pregnancy symptom was my anxiety out of nowhere. I feel like I'm a bundle of nerves and just so scared of everything. Is anyone else feeling similar? How are you managing? Are we contributing it to hormones?
