Anyone had experience with GBS?

Yes just took the test also. It’s normal they said. They will give you meds when you go into labor to clear it

It says about monitoring baby for 12 hours I take it that means we’d have to stay in and there’s no home birth option 😥

@Nikita the advice is hospital because it's recommended that you have IV antibiotics during labour. But that's the only difference. It doesn't mean you can't have a water birth etc.
You can, of course, decline the antibiotics. You don't have to have them. You could request that another swab be done at 37 weeks to see if it is still present as its a bacteria that comes and goes. X

I know it's scary but the antibiotics reduce the risk of infection from 1 in 400 to 1 in 4000 (so lower than if you haven't had a swab done). Try not to worry. Personally, I'd take the antibiotics but that's entirely up to you.
43 babies a month sounds like a lot but I work in a medium sized unit and we have over 250 deliveries a month so it is very small numbers. And some of those babies won't have had antibiotics because it wasn't known that mum carried it.

thanks Jo, can’t help but feel so panicked I’ve lost 5 already now the thought that there’s an increased risk of losing this one after they’re born and it’s because it’s my fault for having this bacteria is so distressing. I haven’t told my husband yet, not sure if I will either 😥

The chances of losing this baby from gbs are absolutely tiny lovely. It isn't your fault you've got it, it's a normal vaginal bacteria. And it comes and goes. The important thing is that you know about it. Xx
