Has anyone done unmedicated birth? If so, how did it go and would you do it again?

I had 2 natural births. They were amazing , hard since you feel all the pain for manyyy hours, good for you and baby after baby's is born, not easy by any means, but your body is designed to do this.
* I feel that we need a middle ground, where you can take some pain meds, but also be free to move around during the entire labor and have a natural vaginal birth.

I had an unmedicated in a birthing pool at a birth center. I labored mostly at home, had my daughter about 3 hours after arriving at the center, and then was on my way home with her just a few hours after that. It was hard but beautiful and I was so grateful just to be in that setting vs the hospital and be able to go home with her shortly after. I plan to do it at home this time as long as everything goes well.

Soooooo…sortof. Turns out by the time they got the epidural in (it took foreeeevvvverr because my spine is weird. Idk) I had fully dilated before it even kicked in. ….but then they also discovered that he had flipped to breach during labor so then I had to go get a c-section.

I’m not sure what qualifies as unmediated. I did have some nitrous oxide before the anesthesiologist came in and it made a much bigger difference than I was expecting. It didn’t make the pain go away…but just calmed me down so I could breathe through contractions if that makes sense.

I did it naturally twice. First time was great second time not so much. Looking back at it honestly was my mentality. As long as you are in the mindset to do it and you keep telling yourself you can. You can. I took a class called hypnobirthing. It sounds different but I just enjoyed taking a class with cool teachers/nurses that helped you feel confident in your ability to birth your baby. It also help calm my mind. So to each their own because as long as you feel comfortable is what matters.

I did one of each. Epidural and section for the first which was awful and totally natural for the second. Would always go natural if you can.

Hypnobirthing is amazing too an really helped. The medication helps in the short term but I found it really hard to recover whereas with the natural one I was pretty much back to normal the next day (although I was very swollen of course!)

I did 1 epidural and 1 natural although I did use gas at the end.

Natural birth is doable but it fucking hurts.

Unmedicated water birth with my first and going to be having another one in October. As crazy as it sound it was amazing and I enjoyed my birthing experiences when I think about the way I gave the water birth versus what it would have been like if I were do give birth at a hospital I would always choose the water birth.

I got an unmedicated birth and even if it's been painful I will do it again. I was feeling so in control and in power and even if I new that my body was able it just blow my mind of how women bodies are incredible ✨️

I made it almost 24 hours with pic being al 26 before we had to make the hard decision to do a emergency c-section due to her being stuck and her heart rate dropping AFTER a contraction. I'd be willing to try again with my next baby

I did... it was excruciating unfortunately for me... 24 hour labor. Im pregnant now with my 2nd and I would love to do it again. I liked that I was able to walk around after and wasn't bound to the bed feeling numb. I hope I can manage to get through the pain again 🤣

Thanks ladies definitely gives me hope with all these awesome stories !

I didn’t have an epidural, if that’s what you mean. 6 hours of labour with gas and air and then had a bit of pethidine to help as I was exhausted near the end but it was still all natural. I recovered very quickly, was up and about within the hour and walking about with relative comfort within 12 hours.
