Disturbing news out of Cleveland

Hi. I am moving to Cleveland area by end of year with toddler due to family health issue I need to help with. I have been trying to prepare myself for the move but one thing i never worried about is safety for my son (I am moving from Boston and I can imagine Cleveland being a much safer nice place to raise my son as single mother).

When all of a sudden couple days ago I get a call from my close girlfriend out in England asking if I've seen all the news headlines even in their newspapers there saying there is "and epidemic of missing children in CLEVELAND"... I freaked out and said no, she said just do a quick google search..... I did and turns out it was TRUE and all over the national news too....

I have been sitting here past 2 days frantically doing as much research online as to what is going on in Cleveland as this really scares me about bringing my son. What should I think?

I am so desperate for any answers I thought hard about posting on here to ask any of you Cleveland moms....please HELP and let me know what's going on there with this missing children epidemic (1000+ in 2023 alone)!!!!! And how are you all coping raising children there or how do you plan to raise them safely as they get older? Thanks and sorry if I'm freaking anyone else out.

I just moved out of Cleveland and it’s my understanding most of these children are missing from the East side and most in their teens. The closer you are to Lakewood (Westside) isn’t all that bad but it’s a big city. I’d only be concerned depending on what area you’re moving to and I’d keep my child out of the public schools. My husband just moved us fuller West of Ohio to provide a safer environment for his family. Thankful to be out of Cleveland and I don’t want to scare you but there’s better cities around Cleveland that are much safer.

wow thank you. So Lakewood or Olmstead is safer? Do you think the crime from the big city will spill over into those? I also agree about keeping my son out of public schools (may I ask your reasoning) as for me it is important he gets a Christian/spiritual upbringing in school (if you or anyone knows any good ones!)... Thanks again!!!

North Olmsted is a great town! Cleveland public schools are trash. Filled with bullies and violence. It’s just really ghetto. I don’t know any good ones.

The media has blow this statistic way out of proportion. There have been 1000 children reported missing in Cleveland since they started tracking the statistics in 1928. There are only 65 current active missing minors cases open with Cleveland police, 16 of which are known habitual runaways. Here is an article from the local news:https://www.wkyc.com/article/news/investigations/3news-investigates-verifying-headlines-reporting-1000-kids-missing-cleveland/95-51c07192-3476-419e-9e66-c244d50b4aa9

I'm not saying Cleveland doesn't have problems but it's not worse then any other major city. Cleveland public schools aren't great, but most of the suburban districts are great! You mentioned Lakewood and North Olmstead, both great but very different from each other. Lakewood is more urban, North Olmstead is more rural. Where does the family you are moving to support live?

Every city has its issues . Cleveland public schools are that public. I wouldn’t say ghetto, Cleveland is an inner city. If you are looking for diversity I would recommend Brooklyn brook park, some Parma areas . Really depends on your budget on cost of living .

Also as for human trafficking Ohio is one of the top 10 states. Just have to research and see what’s good for your family .

Sadly Desperate

I’ve been a step mom for over 6 years now and it seems like this year it has all went to hell. My relationship with my step kids, my feelings as a stepmom and everything else in general. I love my husband and he supports me every way he can I just don’t have anyone else in my situation that can help or understands what I’m going through. If anyone is willing to listen or just give their thoughts I would greatly appreciate it 💜

Anyone had a super early postive ?

Hi am i seeing things ? It's only 6 dpo. I had a chemical pregnancy start of February then a period then a positive ovulation strip a week ago Could this be the left over after the chemical ? It just seems so early. This is an early detection test. This came up within 2 minutes of dipping and it says to wait 3 minutes. I've taken two after that arnt as early detection but still what I think are faint positives ? All appeared withing the recommended time frames xxx

At 8DPO negative test result

At 8 DPO not even a faint line , a straight negative test . So does that means it’s a no pregnancy for me this month . Or there are future chances for hcg to rise
