Birth plans

Has anyone written there’s yet and what kind of things have you included? I’m looking at writing one for natural birth and one for c-section but would like some guidance if anyone can help!

ive done mine and included:
• location
• my choices re: induction before 42 weeks and sweeps
• movement during labour
• birth partner
• birthing equipment
• pain relief i would like
• trainee professionals Y vs N
• delayed cord clamping and skin to skin after baby is born
• birthing of placenta

i’ve also done a pros and cons list for each type of pain relief for reference in labour (impact on baby and on myself) so i can make informed decisions if i had to xox

I got a print out from my midwife that I need to fill out. I read through it. Seems pretty simple :)

I'm using the positive birth icons as a start but making some notes too

I’ve just done mine tonight, I’ve done 2 one written and in detail and one with images for quick looks
I’ve been very detailed and exact

So I'm hoping for a natural, unmedicated hands off birth but have done a plan a, b and c.
(Hospital and unplanned c section) just in case.

Have included environmental factors that are important to me.

Students welcome if at home but not if admitted.

No coached pushing (unless some clinical reason)

No pain relief.

Words to avoid I.e I'd rather be asked about pressure or comfort levels rather than mentioning pain.

Skin to skin immediately, delayed cord clamping and that me or my borth partner will be the one to bring him to me (unless some clinical reason etc)

No weighing/cleaning before skin to skin.

Ideally no drugs to induce placenta birth unless required- I've stipulated 40 minutes to wait until this is offered ideally 🤞🏻

Preferences for c-section if needed.

That's just a few of them but a few outside of the standard ones perhaps?
Lots of the birth pages on socials etc have some good points :)
Good luck! I enjoyed writing mine, made me feel very empowered! X

These are really informative - I haven't written mine just yet, but planning to over the weekend!

Ladies please don't take this the wrong way....

Baby won't have read these plans... it's not like the movies!

My birth 'upset' came from having a view of my birth and setting my heart on it.... ultimately I had little control over what was happening, if I had been in another country both me and baby would have died - now I'm grateful for medical intervention (at the time/afterwards I was fuming/struggling/frustrated)

Ensuring both Mum and Baby stay well is what's best!!

I think it's worth keeping in mind alot can change but there's also things that won't change as dramatically, like if you want vitamin K preferences or if you would like to see your placenta or have music etc.

Mines really flexible. Ideally I’d like a water birth but not married to the idea - no epidural with water birth water birth might change. C-section if needed but prefer not to. Definitely no induction (rather section) and no sweeps unless it’s absolutely necessary. Happy to role with everything else on the day

Is this normal?

Is this little red bit on my section scar normal? It’s not oozing anything, doesn’t hurt but it’s the only bit on my scar like it so just curious! (19 days PP)
Thank you in advance! 🥰

Anyone else felt like this?

Hi, I’m 4 months postpartum, little one sleeps through the night and is formula fed, the last week I’ve felt extremely tired and very hungry! Just wondered if anyone else has felt this way/experienced this?

Help

I was getting pretty painful period cramps and during those, I had painful lower back cramps. I had these on and off for like a few hours so from about 10:30pm to 1am?

I’ve had no show, or anything like that.

Is this braxton hicks or early labour pains?

Early waters/pre term labour?

I can’t get checked until later today unfortunately. I can’t tell if I’m leaking/starting early. I definitely think I’m having braxton hicks yesterday and today.. i have some pain in my back but she is quite low down so hoping it’s just pressure, baby was a little quieter yesterday but she’s back to more normal movements today, but my underwear just seems to get so wet, especially after going to the bathroom. And I honestly can’t work out the smell, I’m pretty sure it’s just discharge/urine leaking but there’s that worry in my mind a little. Are there any other ways to know/check if it could be the start of it all?
