advice and guidance!

my name is brandy! I was raised in a Christian home. I met my husband 3 years ago, he’s Muslim. For 3 years, we have been in an interfaith relationship/marriage. When we met we instantly fell in love and grew a connection. We both knew what we were getting into (an interfaith relationship) and we respected each other and their religion. We agreed to inform each other about our religion and just give knowledge to the other and if one believes that the other religion makes sense to them and wants to seek their religion then of course, to convert.

Recently, I have been finding myself wanting to seek Islam more and more everyday. I have done my research about the religion and culture. I feel a push in my life that this is the path I should take and I honestly WANT to take. I know my next step is to say shahada. But we had to move from WA to TX, we’re in the country where there is no masjid near by. Can I say shahada in my home and have my husband be present? I also am reaching out to have guidance (a female guidance) as I take this journey in my life! 🤍

Hey, Salams hope you're okay! I'm not sure on the complete ruling but I can try and ask for you? I would've thought that maybe it should be okay with you accepting and saying your sahada in the presence of your husband.

Although you’re not Muslim yet, but by heart you are so Assalam o Alaykum sister. Your post made me so happy and I’m teary eyed. How lucky it is to be chosen one from Allah SWT to be guided to the right path💕
Although I don’t have an answer to your question but I have a suggestion that in the beginning just take it easy and transition your lifestyle slowly int Islam so that it it dosent feel hard on you. I’m a born Muslim and I started doing hijab recently because I felt right about it, not because I was forced. A lot of people I know stopped doing hijab because they were forced. I hope you’re getting my point. Ma sha Allah you have a nice husband who inspired you. May you two be blessed with eternal happiness together. Aameen

Assalamu alaikum!
thank you for all the advice. When I first met my husband, he bought a few hijabs for me to try on. I love wearing hijabs! I felt so beautiful wearing one!

As I did my research, I read that all of us are born Muslim but it’s the circumstances in life that stray us away from Islam so reverting is us coming back to Allah SWT. So I believe that Allah SWT was calling me to him from the start. I’m happy that I’m opening my heart to him! 🤍

Hey! I'm soo glad I came across your post and so happy for you!! Alhamdullilah!

I'm sure you found your answer by now but you do not need a witness to take your shahada - it is not a must in Islam so yes you can do it at home whilst your husband is with you :)

I'm nowhere near as knowledgeable as I would like to be but feel free to message me any questions at any time and I'll do my best to answer it. ❤️
