Forward or Rear facing Carseat?

My partner and I are looking at upgrading to a new carseat. This has caused a little debate between us as to whether we are going to have the new seat forward facing or rear facing...
He wants forward facing so that we can interact with our toddler easier, and our toddler theoretically will be able to see more when we go for drives, which I understand and partially agree with.

BUT.. I'm stuck on the rear facing train, purely just to ease my overly paranoid mind with the fact that sitting rear facing for as long as possible is safer.

Has anyone else gone through this stage yet? Are your now toddlers forward or rear facing?

My husband and I upgraded our and we got a convertible one. And generally the rule of thumb is when you max out the height in rear facing

Safest to rear face until 4

I'm also going to continue with rear facing until my little one reaches all of the height / weight limits. It truly is the safest way for them to travel imo.

Here is what the Canadian Pediatric Society says:

"As long as your child still fits within the manufacturer’s weight and height limits, they are safest using a rear-facing seat until 2, 3, or even 4 years old."

"Once your child has outgrown the larger rear-facing car seat – and is at least 2 years old – they can move to a forward-facing car seat with a 5-point harness".

It really is safest to keep your little one rear facing as long as they are under the rear facing limits.

Whatever is safest

My daughter is forward facing since 1 year old simply because her feet was pushing on the seat and she hated looking towards the back of the car and now it is so much easier to see her and to interact with her.

Uhhhhh rear facing as long as possible 😵‍💫😵‍💫 my 2.5 year old is still rear facing lmaoooo

You are not paranoid and it’s not a matter of opinion. Official recommendation is to stay rear facing as long as possible until the child gets taller or heavier than manufacturer allows.

Please read up on the Facebook group below. It’s safest to stay rear facing until 4 years

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
