I had a very difficult labour resulting in 2nd degree perineal tear & blood loss.
It’s been a week, but there seems to be no improvement of recovery. Is it normal to feel as if whole body has been shattered to pieces, mobility is zero, get labour like painful contractions in uterus, and stitches are the worse- feel so heavy and painful down there. I cannot move at all.
I’ve seen all these women move on to their regular lives so quickly, & here I feel horrible I can’t even get out of bed, or even change sides in bed:(
Is this normal? How long does this kind of recovery take?

Hey I had pretty much the same, 2nd degree tear, assisted delivery with forceps and lost 2.7 litres of blood, I’m 3 weeks pp and I’m only just starting to feel like myself again, the first week was hell and I couldn’t control my bladder and sitting up, walking or even trying to pick up my baby was so so painful, it does get easier it takes time to heal xx

So normal. I had similar tear and 2.6l blood loss, still getting aches down there 4 weeks on. The first couple of weeks were the hardest. I don’t believe all these women move on to their regular lives so quickly, they may post about it on socials or tell you how amazing they are but I doubt it very much somehow. Everything you describe sounds normal. Give it a bit more time and you’ll be feeling stronger xxx

2 weeks PP, I was exactly the same with the stitches for episiotomy and 2nd degree tear. I just feel bruised down there now, my turn around day for the pain was probably around day 10ish. I'm nowhere near my regular life and it is a massive struggle. I keep getting told it gets easier 🤞🏻🤞🏻 xx

Honestly what you're saying is completely normal! This is my second child and my labour wasn't anywhere near as bad as my first and the recovery is very different! My first I was walking around like nothing had happened a week after despite stitches and everything else, this time no stitches or anything but felt like I've been physically blended for weeks! Even now I don't feel quite right! That being said, I have a toddler so I have to go back to normal life a but quicker because I don't have the option :P none of these scenarios are wrong though! Take your recovery slowly! It's completely normal to feel the way you do and rushing it won't make it any better! Xx

Absolutely normal. Your body has been through a hell of a lot during labour and birth, and your uterus needs time to shrink back down from 9 months of being stretched to the size of a watermelon! Plus, the human body does it’s best healing during sleep and let’s face it we don’t get the best quality sleep with a newborn baby 😭
For me I remember a noticeable improvement after 2 weeks, still had the odd twinge from uterus cramps which can go on until 6 weeks but I stopped feeling the cramping after the 2nd week too

Are you taking pain meds to help? With my first baby I took them for nearly 6 weeks afterwards. The first baby takes the longest to recover from and you’ve never experienced it before so it feels very daunting. I also had a 2nd degree tear and yes it is painful but wasn’t as bad as my tear in the front. You’ll be ok, it’s just so hard because you have a baby to take care of too. Blessings to you friend🤍
