I work in a high risk job and unfortunately this morning I've been punched in the stomach extremely hard by a resident. I am only 6+4 weeks and wondered if it would be worth going to walk in centre to be checked? Have been before 2 weeks ago for cramping so feel bad going again but worried about baby.

Defo go and get checked out

I work in aged care and understand how risky it can be dealing with some residents with behavioural issues. It was a risk going in to every shift because some elderly can be so unpredictable...
Please get checked out as soon as possible just for that peace of mind. Also it might be a good idea to request light duties if you intend to continue working so that you're not placed in dangerous situations that can put yourself and baby in harm.

It is better to go and get checked to ease any worries so do not feel bad for going.
From personal experience I know it's scary, but given the unpredictable nature of your job I would highly recommend speaking to your manager and telling them you're pregnant so they can risk assess you and support you into a shadow/light duties/non-patient contact role. I know 1st hand it's scary doing this when you've just found out but you have to prioritise yourself, your health and your pregnancy. Within a few minutes of telling my manager I had a chaperone for the rest of the shift to and from office to toilet/clinic room and was told to stay in the office and from the next day I was non patient contact due to unpredictable risk of my work environment. Your manager has a duty of care to you xx

They'd rather you keep going and nothing be wrong than you wait and something happens. I'd also suggest telling you're employer so they can conduct a risk assessment and make sure you're safe xx
unfortunately I work in a dementia home and so the residents are always around x

The walk-in centre won’t be able to do anything and it will be a waste of your time. Book a private scan if there are any available today or tomorrow . But tbh, at this moment your baby is tiny and deep in your pelvis.

Is work awear of you being pregnant ?? I would go get checked if you feel the need to . At 6 weeks baby is nestled into your pelvis and pretty safe unfortunately they're is nothing at this stage the hospital can do and check .
I would definitely bring this to your managers attention I see you work in a dementia home and appreciate how hard it is but they have a duty of care. X
will they not send me over to the EPU?
would they not be able to do a scan to ensure baby's still alive? As I heard heartbeat last time x

They maybe able to but normally quite reluctant at this stage but you could call them and ask x

Nope, not unless you’re bleeding.

Als the walk-in centres have no connection to the EPU, if you want to get checked then call them tomorrow but they won’t be in a rush to fit you in if your aren’t bleeding.

I had a similar incident a couple of weeks back and called pregnancy assessment unit straight away and explained what had happened, I was 20 something weeks then so baby was bigger but they were really good and explained how cushioned and protected baby is in there. They got me in though listened to babies heartbeat and reassured me all was okay. I did need an injection though as I have a different blood type to baby.

Go. Always go better be safe then sorry
