Reduced movements or normal?

Hi girls,

I’m 30+4 first pregnancy, i dont know what I expected but I thought there would be more movement. It feels a bit too average I thought they’d be getting more and more maybe it’s too slow and gradual for me to notice.
I feel like he only moves after I eat or drink something, it’s not spontaneous as such, maybe he’s just sleeping or moving when I’m sleeping and I don’t notice it.
I do get braxton hicks every now and then too, they are becoming more frequent as I’m noticing it everyday. Not painful just uncomfortable tightening around the front at the bottom

I’m seeing my midwife on Wednesday but I just wanted your opinions if anyone has similar feelings. As it’s my first pregnancy I worry so much, I have a lot of anxiety so I can’t tell if it’s a case of trusting my gut or I’m just super anxious.

Thank you 🩵

Any reduced movements needs to be checked out at hospital, don’t leave it!! X

reduced movements the key word is reduced, so if you have noticed a pattern which it sounds like you have, after food etc if one day you ate and he didnt move then that would be classed as reduced movements, but always get checked if you have a bad feeling xx

he always moves after food/drinks but I feel like it’s only after food/drink he moves. Ive felt movement after food and drink but i dont know if that’s normal or if there’s supposed to be spontaneous movement t

not really spontaneous no, because babies get into a routine in there, mine only moved between like 8-10 at night and in the morning between 6-7, i dont really feel much in the day and its only when im laying down i do, its not really spontaneous ever tbf, sometimes it can be for people but mostly its routine movement which is why they say reduced which is out of routine for your baby x

Definitely go to hospital if you have any worries or concerns! Xx

I was the exact same 2 weeks ago at 30 weeks pregnant went into maternity unit and got checked the doctor at the time explained it's common between 28-32 weeks to notice reduced movement she couldn't tell me why but says it happens a lot it could be due to not having much room to move around I thought that ment you would feel them more but obviously not or depending where your placenta is situated try not stress to much it's always worth a call if you feel you need to, the doctor was also able to feel baby move but I couldn't it was so weird☺️

thats really bad advice from them and they shouldnt be telling you that, baby should not reduce movement because they ‘run out of room’, it says this on the back of the nhs midwife packs, if someone says this to you ask for a second opinion x

I've been to the hospital a few times for reduced movement and been told that anything that gives you anxiety or a weird feeling with regard to movements to just go get it checked. The midwife told me that baby should be moving without being coaxed, so you shouldn't have to drink fizzy drinks or cold water ext to get movement. Definitely get it checked, worth going 100 times than missing that one thing xx

yeah they weren't the best to be honest I'm just glad her movements have increased again 😊
