How long is everyone keeping the baby in their bedroom

I was thinking to keep the baby for 6 months with me then shift to their own nursery. My family saying I should keep baby with me for 1 year while my manager at work was saying she only kept baby with her for 6 weeks. I intended to go back to work a year after my mat leave start date

6 months is recommended to reduce chance of SIDS. I intended to move my son out shortly after 6mo, when he outgrew his next to me, but I just never did as his sleep was so awful it was easier to keep him nearby 🙈Moved his big cot into our room and that’s where he stayed for over a year until we moved house when he was 14months. That’s when it just made sense for us to start a fresh with him in his own room.

Think it’s different for everyone, my friend moved her baby out at 4 months as she kept waking her up chatting to herself. I’m aiming for 4-6 months, when it feels right

I had a wee boy December 2021 and he's still in his cot beside me.. simply because we only have 1 bedroom, and for months now he's been throwing himself over the side of the cot ontop of me and I was afraid of moving the cot and then him throwing himself over (thinking he'd land on me, and landing on the floor instead)
But we also have a baby due January 2024, so I'v bought a single bed for him to arrive over the next week or so, and I'm hoping to move him away from my bed to the other side of the room to get him used to it before baby arrives

You don’t have to decide in advance, just see how you feel. With my current two I always planned 6+ month and ended up doing 11 month with the first and 14 with the second just because it felt right. We’ll see how it goes this time round
