My mom watches the baby for me while I work. She recently started smoking again. She doesn’t smoke in the house or when she watches the baby. But it still bothers me. It stays on her hair and your skin and clothes. I’ve tried to talk to her about it but she blows me off and says I don’t do it with the baby here or in the house. If not find someone else to watch the baby. Which is not an option for me. I don’t know what to do. It’s really bothering me.

Does your baby smell like smoke after she watches him/her?

I would not have her around the baby. Even for visits. Smoke can increase the possibility of SIDS. It's not worth the chance to me, with all the effort I put in to have my baby and keep him safe through the pregnancy.
Is there anyway childcare options around you that might work? I would be so pissed at her.

I think she’s already giving you her time for free and not smoking around the baby. Neither of those are easy… it sounds like she’s doing a great job.
If it really bothers you and you’re nice about it, she might bring a change of clothes and use hand sanitizer without being too offended. Smokers tend to know they smell, even if they can’t smell it.
She’s your mom, and she’s helping you out when it sounds like you need it. She deserves a hug, even if she does smell!
