My friend wants her son to go to an expensive private school and wants us to pay for it.

My friend has set up a Go Fund Me type thing for people to donate money for her child to go to private school in a few years time.

I said it's great but I can't donate as I'm pregnant and looking out for my own child's needs. She said we should just donate a little every month because it will help her a lot and I'm his God mother.

I would never ask others to pay for a luxury for my child. Is this normal?

Would her little one qualify for any scholarships? Private education costs a fortune every term. She’ll need a phenomenal sum in donations to see her kid through it

If you want your child to go to an expensive private school that's for you as the parent to pay, not for you to ask for money to raise the funds for them to go..

not sure how it works to be honest but her target is £50k

Go fund me, in my opinion, is for people donating money to charitable causes, people in challenging circumstances, emergency fund raising etc… sending your child to private school is none of these!! 😂 I absolutely wouldn’t be donating. What awful thing is going to happen if she doesn’t raise the money… oh yes, her child will go to a local authority/comprehensive/academy school, like the other 93% of the population.
And if she thinks £50k will see her kid through private school then she’s waaaay off 😂

Some people are so entitled.
If she doesn't have the money her child can't go, it's as simple as that.
She can't possibly expect you and others to pay 🤦‍♀️

Ha what a delusional person. Nope.

Our local private school is 15k a term... £50k would only see them through 1 full year, that's crazy she's expecting you to pay 🤣

wow! Maybe she's doing the rest some how

Am I reading this right 😅

Avatar

Absolutely not.

£50k will only cover the first year, if she's lucky
Her best bet is to see if they do scholarships

yikes!!
