I suffered really badly with pgp during my first pregnancy to the point that I need crutches and was signed off work from 20 weeks. The doctor referred me for physio and hydrotherapy which helped. Once bub was born it all went away. Fast forward 16 months later and I'm currently 6 weeks pregnant with my second. I'm starting to get pain again all around my pelvis, hips and groin and lifting my toddler is becoming very painful. Has anyone else experienced symptoms this early on? Also has anyone ever been signed off work indefinitely from this early? Since returning from mat leave my employer of 7 years has been trying to push me out, gave away my job role and has just been awful. I was in the process of looking to change jobs as being there is majorly affecting my mental health, but found out that we are expecting and honestly now I feel completely stuck as I don't want to start a new job and loose company mat pay plus potentially need to be signed off with PGP. Can the doctor refuse to sign you off for so long?

I think it depends on the company too. I know with mine, if I’m off for 4 weeks with pregnancy related reasons after a certain week, they just start my MAT leave from the earliest date which I think is 29 weeks. Prior to that, it just works like normal sick pay and no company can sack you or dismiss you because of it so a doctor could sign you off for however long you needed. I was always told, I’m the most protected employee of anything happened to the company and it’s was true in my case when I had to TUPE across to a new company whilst on leave with my first. I don’t think a midwife can sign you off though. I had suspected carpal tunnel when I was about 26 weeks and it lasted until I finished work at around 35 weeks and my doctor was awful and just said it’s because of my pregnancy, don’t work as much - harder said than done x
