For those who managed to be pregnant and got prescribed blood thinners i.e clexane, enoxaparin. What was your dosage and for how long did you have to take them for? Did you also have to complement with aspirin?

Most people take 40 for their whole pregnancy is my understanding. I actually take 60 (due to my bmi being a bit higher) and have been told I will stop a few days before birth. I also take aspirin and been told by nhs to stop that at 36 weeks.

I’ve also been on 40 clexane so far (currently 14weeks). I was on aspirin until week 11 but after 3 rounds of spotting my dr told me to stop the aspirin as he suspected my blood was too thin. I think they want to put me back in it after a while as I’m expecting twins but I don’t know much more for now.

thanks for your reply! I am on 40 clexane too so you were doing both aspirin and clexane at the same time? How long would you stay on it for? I am only 8 weeks and not sure how long will I be on but I feel it could be a while and I was started panicking whether it was safe and whether I was on a too high dosage. When I inject at night I go to bed and feel my heart pounding like I could almost be out of breathe so was not sure if normal - do you have this?

thanks! Can I ask you why are on clexane? At the moment I am only going clexane no aspirin but would ideally want to lower the dosage of clexane and mix with aspirin as I worry it gives my heart palpitations and I am so out of breathe. Did you have any side effect?

I saw a reproductive immunologist and I found out I have the MTHFR gene mutation which heightens your chance of clotting. There’s mixed understanding of it among health professionals and some think it’s not needed but my RI did and I’ve seen so many women in MTHFR groups say they couldn’t keep pregnant until they took clexane. I’m not taking any risks! Haha and there’s no harm to baby of being on it.
I did actually come off both from weeks 5-11 as I had a hematoma causing some bleeding but I went back on Clexane at 11 weeks and the NHS put me on aspirin again at 12 weeks due to having a higher preeclampsia risk.
I haven’t had any specific side effects to them. Progesterone gave me heart palpitations and breathlessness and so did pregnancy but I haven’t had them from aspirin or clexane 😊
Hope that helps!

I have exactly the same got tested positive with the MTHFR gene which may have caused my late missed MC with first ivf pregnancy. Will message you in private :)

We also saw a reproductive immunologist and had to take 40 Clexane and aspirin throughout the whole pregnancy. We were told to stop the day before induction, and we're also sent to see a haematologist who said I had to stay on Clexane and wearing stockings for 6 weeks after c section - it was my last one last night! X

of course! Yes I was on both at the same time but have come off the aspirin (for now). I think I will be on clexane for my whole pregnancy (currently 14+3). I’ve never had that reaction from Clexane, but maybe check in with your dr? Or ask your dr to see if you can try a different time of day to see if you have the same reaction?
