Why are people trying to induce labour?

I don’t really get it. Why are people trying to early induce labour? Like at 34/35 weeks? I’m 35 weeks pregnant with my second. I absolutely do not want the baby born before full term! Believe me, I get the discomfort, I get being fed up. I’m up at night with cramps, heartburn, I have aches and pains throughout the day! I’ve been here twice now! But I still want my baby to reach full term! There’s a reason it’s considered full term at 37 weeks. Why are people so keen to bring their babies here early? X

I assume it's cause people have complications maybe or other medical issues 🤔

In most cases, it's not the mumma who wants the induction. It's fear based and outdated information given to mums. Theres always a place for inductions, but the statistics on the rate of inductions are through the roof, and you have to ask yourself why. So many midwives/birth advocates speaking out about this very issue. Xx

Do you mean when a person doesn’t have medical complications and and is generally healthy but they just trying to “make the labour start early”? I guess because they are inpatient, tired of being pregnant idk🤷‍♀️

A few of us due at the beginning of November are now full term, or very close to being, they also could just be asking for future reference, that’s what I assumed anyway x

I'd guess some people don't have all the information on induction stats and why it's best (if safe) to let your body do what it's made for..

some women get very depressed and uncomfortable and in pain by the end and this is not enough for doctors to intervene, so they will try to do it themselves, i have spd and 3 other kids and i am in soooo much pain, so i can 100% see why people do it

Everyone handles pregnancy differently im on my 4th baby and will have 2 under 2, 4th c section, I’m having him at 38 weeks anyways via section due to my gd but I really don’t blame women for trying to prepare there body to go into labour. I think we all know the baby only
Comes when they are ready some people try everything and nothing works. Buts it’s fun to try things out and they have the hope it could probably work, everyone’s different and no one can judge 😊😊😊 x

There are so many old wives tales about inducing labor and I think people buy into the bullshit. It’s quite commercialized now as well. Unfortunately what people don’t realize is that the baby will come when it’s ready! Not because you’ve eaten some pineapple, or drank some tea or had sex. If the baby does happen to come after those things… it’s a coincidence. The last few weeks are super uncomfortable (I’m 40 weeks tomorrow, I wish this baby would arrive!) but for first time mums especially I think it just feels like it goes on forever. Maximum two weeks I’ll be meeting my baby and suddenly this bit will be a distant and forgotten memory 🥰

Has anyone started to plan out their first birthday yet lol I know it’s a little bit early but I like to plan ahead. I already have a theme picked out.

😂😂I am thinking about Sesame Street and Toy story as a theme

How many of you had your c sections rescheduled?

So I'm choosing to have a c section this time around because I had an emergency c section after being induced last time. That was less than 2 years ago so I don't think it's a good idea to try again. I'm really nervous it's gonna be rescheduled bcs I have my sister taking time off work to help me out with the baby in the hospital since my husband will have to go home to be with our toddler at night. Also my husband starts his leave on that day so I don't want him to lose any more days. So I'm just wondering how common this is. I'm in the US in NJ

Unwell after sweep

I’ve had a sweep earlier today, lost the mucus plug about a couple hours later. Got period type cramping immediately, I hadn’t even left the midwife appointment yet. I have contractions and permanent back cramping, alongside waves of nausea - which is a combination I’m struggling with as I feel quite unwell. Nowhere near labour, as I’ve had 6 contractions in the span of 3 hours or so. A midwife told me sweeps cause really bad cramping, so I assumed it was normal. But just want to check if there’s anybody out there in a similar boat? Should I be calling the hospital to check if it’s all normal?

39 Week Induction Being Pushed On

Went to my 36 week appointment today and my OB was pushing for a 39 week induction.

I want a natural spontaneous labor but my OB kept pushing for the induction even if I’m low risk and healthy. Is anyone else experiencing this?
