Announcing pregnancy on social media

Is anyone else torn between sharing their pregnancy announcement on social media or keeping it off there?

I love pictures and instagram and sharing all the things we get up to but I feel really strange about sharing this, it’s not that I’m not excited because believe me I am, its taken us years to get here and ivf so sharing it with my friends and family is amazing but the thought of sharing it with the with the whole world (even though my account is private) is something I’m not sure about.

I can’t explain it but I feel like they are mine and this is mine and my husbands moment/time and if I share it online I feel like it becomes other people’s news that they will talk about it to people.

Again I’ve told all close friends and family and it was so special so it’s not that I want to keep it a secret.

I feel like they should be the one to decide if they want to be posted online.

Please tell me I’m not alone?

I am exactly the same way.

I am very very torn. We had 2 losses last year and it seemed to take forever to finally fall pregnant this time.

I want to shout from the roof tops our exciting amazing news, but I'm also wanting to keep it a special thing for husband and our close friends and family.

I'm also very very aware how seeing pregnancy announcements made me feel when we were struggling with the losses and struggling to conceive, so I'm very very conscious of making someone else feel the same sadness xx

We didn’t announce my pregnancy online & even now I’ll only post the odd photo of my son, but never include his face or anything personal.
I don’t think I missed out on anything by not announcing online, all the people important to me were told and that’s all that mattered :).

It’s a very personal choice, but I think if you are unsure, maybe wait a few more weeks and see how you feel then? You can always announce once you are 100% sure, no matter how far a long you are, but in a way you can’t really un-announce (if that makes sense). We aren’t going to announce ours, but we told the people in our lives that we are close to, so don’t feel like we are missing out.

No I’m not sharing. I did with my first but not my second nor this time.

For some reason I'm scared to announce it this time. In the first pregnancy, as soon as I found out, I already posted.
I have friends who lost their baby and it was something that really affected us. Especially after finding out I'm pregnant with twins. I will post at the very end of the pregnancy or only after the babies are born (after 1 week or 2).
I don't know if this will change, but at the moment I don't feel comfortable posting!

I have never announced any of my pregnancies on social media, I generally don’t share much at all anyway 🤣 I respect and understand why people want to share their joy, but that’s simply something I am not interested in/I don’t feel comfortable doing xx

3 losses before this pregnancy so there deffo WONT be any social media announcements. Just trying to get through day by day, remain grateful and get to the end. Respectfully, likes and congrats are least of my worries. I know everyone on my socials but albeit some are from high school 15 years ago. Plus, I’ll never forget how the big brash announcements felt when I was going through loss. If you’re torn then hold off till you’re sure you’re ready ❤️
