Health anxiety

Just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing some health anxiety since being pregnant? Because sometimes I feel like I'm going insane with how anxious I feel over becoming ill while being pregnant. I work in a nursery around young children and currently have chicken pox going around in the setting. I know things like this are going to happen with where I work as parents aren't always great at keeping their children at home when their unwell but I do understand that parents do also have to work themselves and that they need the childcare or that they may not realise how unwell their child is when initially sending them in but the fact I'm constantly sending poorly children home after being around them can be quite stressful. I'm not so much talking about the common cold but obviously some illness is quite dangerous to pregnant people. I actually recently got covid when I was about 18 weeks pregnant from someone at work too and at the time it made me really anxious but luckily myself and baby were actually okay! It might just be me being dramatic but would be interested to see if others have felt similar.

I’m exactly the same! I’m a primary teacher and 22 weeks now. I teach year one so they are like a breeding ground of bacteria. Since I’ve returned in September we have had multiple covid cases, hand foot and mouth, chicken pox, scarlet fever and shingles!! It’s so hard not to get into contact with them and I’m finding myself compulsively washing my hands and trying to distance myself from the children. Just feel like it’s such a stressful situation to be expected to deal with so I totally understand xx

Glad it's not just me because then I end up thinking if I speak to my managers about it that they'll just think I'm being dramatic and acting like the only person on the planet to have ever been pregnant. Xx

I told my school that if a child in my class gets hand foot and mouth then I’m not working in there or they will have to removed the child. Last time I was luckily that it was just the class that shares a cloak room with me but I don’t understand why parents think it’s okay to send them in to spread to everyone else! They have a legal obligation to ensure you are safe at work and your risk assessment should cover your for your mental health too. If it is causing you an issue including stress then you are in your rights to refuse/ they have to make other provision for you xxx

I work in a nursing home and around this time of year we get plenty of cases of flu/covid/norovirus etc. I follow the correct procedures with PPE and the staff are great and will help me limit my exposure to patients and my manager also says I don't have to tend to patients with certain illnesses but it's always a worry because it can be spread by the staff too. It certainly makes me feel anxious x
