Edward with nickname Teddy

Too popular? I've fallen in love with Teddy for my due in Feb boy but want to give him a 'grown up' name as an option for when he's older. Ideally this would be Theodore but husband doesn't like it ๐Ÿ˜” I don't dislike Edward but don't like Ed.. would he end up being called Ed instead of Ted? Naming a child is so hard!! His sister's name is Rosalind but we only call her Rosie.

I have a Theodore, I wanted Teddy and my partner wanted Theo. He only ever answers to Teddy after being called a mixture of things. I love all 3 names and we'll call him what he prefers when he's old enough to tell us too. We get alot of compliments on Theodoreโ˜บ๏ธ.

Our nephew is Edward and doesn't get called anything but Edward. I'm the same as you and like names we can shorten if we or the child prefers when they're older๐Ÿค— xx

Ahh lovely..I'm envious of calling him Theodore! It's such a shame my husband isn't a fan for some reason. Hopefully if we mostly call him Ted/Teddy then that will be what he's called rather than Ed/Eddy.

i know a boy whose full name is Edward, but he has always been called Teddy - his parents have used Teddy/Teds as a nickname since he was born, so if Teddy is the name you introduce your son with, it's likely people will automatically call him Teddy - especially as Teddy is a totally legimate nickname for Edward!

ofc your son himself my opt to be known as Ed when he's older - which may be something you want to consider if you aren't keen on it - but Ned is also a cute nickname option! even Woody works as a nickname for Edward, so he will have a lot of options as he grows up!

it's a shame your husband isn't keen on Theodore - if you aren't totly sure about the name Edward, other option for names that work with Teddy as a nickname are Tedmond, Edgar, Edmund, Edwin, Tedric, Thaddeus or Theobald. also, the name Arthur means "bear", so altho it's more of a subtle link, Teddy would also work as a nickname for Arthur. ๐Ÿ’™

We didn't actually have a name for a little while because we couldn't agree on any. My oldest son thinks it's call his brother is on Alvin & the Chipmunks though. I didn't think of that one๐Ÿ˜‚

My brothers friends dont allow anyone to shorten their child's name. Friends, family and school etc, all call him Leonardo and he's never been a Leo. Maybe (if you have the energy) to persist at what you prefer they will all call him with what you say you want x
