Any women here with POI and/or Fragile X?

Hi! I have POI but I tested negative for fragile x. So it’s idiopathic for me. I’ve done 2 rounds of IVF so far and currently are in our 3rd. We’ve also done 2 IUIs. Have you had a follicle count?

Yeah i had 7 follicles but my FSH was above 100 and my AMH undetectable, estrogen low so they said i couldn’t do IVF.

Oh ok- I’ve only ever had between 2-7 follicles each month. My FSH wasn’t as high as yours (fluctuated between 15-30) my AMH was really low. First first IVF cycle I only grew one egg and was able to retrieve it but it didn’t make it to a blastocyst. Second cycle they changed me to a more aggressive medication protocol in hopes of more eggs growing- my body didn’t respond at all and nothing grew so we canceled the cycle no retrieval. Now we are in the third and we went back to the first protocol and again only one egg is growing (I started out with 7 follicles). I actually have my retrieval tomorrow and we’ll see if this one egg makes it. But basically the less eggs you have the lower statistical chance of it working. I think it depends on the financial piece too- if you have insurance coverage for IVF then maybe just try one round and see what happens. You won’t know how your body responds to meds until you try.

^if you don’t have insurance coverage then donor eggs may be where you want to invest your money from the start since the chance of success with your own eggs is probably very low, you may not want to pay out of pocket for your own cycles.

Yeah my insurance covers up to $35k for IVF but my doc says I’m not a candidate for it.
