Bitter sweet baby shower

I’m very excited for my baby shower coming up later this month but I’m feeling a little bummed and relived because I decided to not invite any of my family and just welcome close friends and my in laws. Ever since me and my sister don’t get along my family has felt different towards me and never ask about the baby or even show any excitement. Has anyone else has to do something like this?

The only people who showed up to my baby shower were my family, not even my partner’s family showed up which really hurt. So I guess it’s different for everyone

it still sucks in your situation I’m sorry :( and that’s how I’m feeling but at the same time I guess it’s better that people who are actually excited for you are there :/

I get you, I only want positivity around my baby, and it helped clear up who was actively wanting to be part of his life.

I had to cut out my entire side of the family. I even sent them all invites and no one even had the decency to respond even when I reached out asking if they received it. My own mother says she’s not even a grandmother anymore. It was still an amazing time and honestly it was a relief it being so Drama free. My partners side of the family treats me as their own and they are all so supportive. I honestly had a better time without all the negativity and judgment from my side of the family! But realizing how toxic my side of the family is was probably the best thing for me and my pregnancy. My blood pressure went down and my overall health improved not being around such miserable people. Not only that but I wouldn’t want my son around that either.
