Hey, has anyone ever requested their hospital notes from when they had their baby?
I feel like everything was such a blur to me I actually don’t know what happened and I know they were constantly writing things down. I feel like something wasn’t quite right with my epidural as I had a catheter for a week after birth and was visited days later by the senior anaesthetist. It honestly took me months and months to recover from labour and I would say nearly 12 months to feel completely normal.
I don’t want my notes for any sort of blame or anything I’m just genuinely interested in how things played out - is this something I can ask for a copy of?

Yes you can ask for them, and you can also have a debrief with a midwife and they will go through your notes with you, I was offered this due to a traumatic birth, and being born in theatre due to a mistake that happened during my birth. I didn’t take them up on it as I don’t want to relive it, but I’m pretty sure anyone can request it

Ah thank you! Xx

Yep our area has a ‘birth experiences’ debrief where a midwife will talk you through your birth notes.
I’ve requested one as I had a bit of bleeding in theatre after a c-section and am now pregnant again so just want to understand what happened before I make any choices for birth this time round 😊

Contact patient liaison at the hospital you had your baby. They will send you a form to fill in and a copy gets sent out to you. I funny enough recieved mine in thr post today x

As far as I am aware they should have given you your notes to keep? If not you can ask for them
