First steps

With my son he was cruising along the sofa and then he turned so his back was against the sofa and I was sitting a couple steps away from him and I just opened my arms and said come to mama and he stumbled forward. We just kept doing that and now he runs everywhere 🤣

Snacks! He was cruising and could do one and then go back down. I literally sat a few steps away with snacks and that it what it took! Once he found his feet and confidence that was it!

Try different surfaces like carpeted or wooden floor, grass, etc. and let him walk barefooted so he can have a good feel of his balance.

My son was the same. It took a while before he got his confidence but was non stop after that.

Also, try to encourage him to walk towards a "goal" for example, my son took his first independent steps chasing after a duck at the park, and if your son is interested in a rolling ball, encourage him to go after that etc.


And don't forget to praise (clap) every effort however small they may be.

When we knew he was ready we would move the TV remote from one piece of furniture to the other so he’d get it from one then have to step to the other. We started with them close together then when he got confident with that we’d gradually increase the distance so he’d have to do a step.
We gave lots of praise when he did it so he wanted to keep doing it.
A month later and he’s walking independently.
