Anyone had little ones with hand foot & mouth?

Not this baby… yet. But my first had it twice at this exact age nearly 5 years ago. It was horrible but it affected us adults more than him. I was actually ok both times, my husband got super poorly from it. Recovered at home perfectly though!

My sons nails fell off which was maybe the worst part as it terrified us and we didn’t know it was normal lol. Call 111 for advice if you are worried.

If there’s a fever, alternate medicine until it stays below 38.
If they don’t eat, make sure they are drinking and if you notice less wet nappies contact 111 and they’ll want to get some fluids in.

However - it’s usually mild for young children. So I was told anyways.

Hopefully better soon! The spots were the thing that made it seem worse than it was but he was himself just a bit like a cold

But a lot of illnesses aren’t so bad for them. Like strep for those under 6. I weirdly know too many illness facts from my anxious google searches lol x

Yes we did a few weeks back, it’s horrid for them. My little one had ulcers in his mouth so just gave him stuff like yoghurt & porridge was pretty much all he ate.
I upped him formula as well so knew he was getting something and just tried to make sure he drank plenty.
Alternate calpol & ibuprofen too, it’s proper shit for you both lasted about 7-10 days from beginning to end. Here if you need x

Thank you girl! I think because it looks so bad, makes me feel awful! He’s gone fussy with his food today, luckily he still loves his milk so I’ve upped that! I haven’t started him on any vitamins yet, so wondering whether it would be worth looking at them?

Last question do you give the calpol and ibuprofen the same time or?

My little boy had this a few weeks ago after starting nursery. Apparently it’s only mild in young children. He was ok after a few days and we just kept putting loads of cream on as his skin started to go dry and the spots scabbed over. Couple of weeks later lots of dead skin on the feet and hands which was strange. Just make sure they get plenty of fluid xxx

Literally today, I had to go and collect LO from nursery, said they're had been cases and already starting to develop sores on her hands 😥🫣

Just dosing up with Calpol

It started last week on my little boy, he's generally doing ok, think his mouth is sore as he's off his food and has quite a few sores around his mouth. First few days I just alternated calpol and ibuprofen to give him cover throughout the day and night if needed. Like someone else mentioned though, make sure they're drinking plenty and have wet nappies. If they reduce definitely get them checked out x

my little girl had it about a month ago, it was such a hard week!
we bathed her multiple times a day, creamed her to keep her skin moisturised, and covered the affected areas with calamine lotion to soothe the spots
keep alternating calpol and ibuprofen every 2 hours and don’t worry about food intake - as long as they are drinking milk that’s all they need but yoghurt was a massive hit for my little one!
