Tongue tie

Does anyones baby have a tongue tie fhat they haven’t snipped. My son had his snipped but it wasn’t done right so its still attached in one place. I feel so horrible but the doctors at king’s hospital didnt cut it right 🥹

My LG has tongue tie. I brought it to my HV attention more than once but as she is feeding fine and gaining weight she said there was no need to interfere. I’m in 2 minds whether to get a second opinion as she is a happy and content baby. She is bottle fed and we are currently weaning with no issues. She seems to have good movement of the tongue so i’m hoping over time it will loosen and be fine. I know of several people who have had their LO’s ties snipped and had nothing but trouble since xx

I think my baby’s wasn’t fully snipped. She had a posterior one and I had it assessed again with an IBCLC and she said she didn’t have full tongue function still but wasn’t sure if there’s any more anyone could cut so I think I’ll just have to see if it affects her in any way as she gets older! X

Same with my baby. He had it snipped at 6 weeks and it didn’t make any difference to feeding, so I went back and he had a further tongue tie and had it snipped again. Unfortunately it didn’t make a difference and feeding was still hard so we moved to formula feeding. It happens so quick and he’s not going to remember, but it is horrible

Yes I have in the case of my baby it was super severe… after a few weeks it re attached (less Severe) so I went again and ask for a reassessment and told them it was not working, they sent me to a breastfeeding clinic and check my latch…
They did the process a second time (snipped with scissors) and reattached again less severe but still there, went private to see if it could be done by laser but they told me that since it was already done twice and she had scar tissue they will not recommend to do it since until she was 3 years…

So summary definitely ask for a second opinion and get it review (everyone was so dismissive with me when I said it didn’t work) or if it is the second time and you can go privately and get it done with laser…

If anyone is dismissive tell them you are in pain and so on, normally they will listen and if your hospital has a breastfeeding clinic they can help reevaluating

I’m tongue tied 😜 and have been from birth, can’t stick my tongue out but I have no speech issues, eating issues or pain in my neck from being tongue tied like they say x

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

6 month old autistism

My 6 month old makes no eye contact with me and doesn’t respond when I call him. Can this just be a phase or personality trait as apposed to autism

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
