Going to be starting potty training soon and just any advice or recommendations that have worked for any of you guys will help. My first kid and am a bit nervous with the whole idea.

Honestly my advice- just wait until they are older.

What age did you start?

Only asking so I can get a good enough idea as to when to start cause I’m hearing so much from different people on different times to do it and how xx

My eldest had just turned 3 and got it really quickly. To be honest I probably should have done it much earlier but I just kept putting it off. With my second I’ll probably start at 2 and a half unless he shows an interest before then.

2 years 10 months old. I barely had to do anything and she ‘trained’ in 2 days because she was ready.

That really helpful thankyou guys, might just wait a little longer until she’s more verbal and can tell me a lot easier and better and catch on easier x

I think the longer you wait, the harder it is to be done. Because they get 'attached' to the pampers.
I waited until 3.5 year old with my eldest and I regret not starting sooner.
My 2 year old already shows signs of readiness and seems so much simpler about it.

thanks, she’s going to be 2 in February and she’s also going to be starting nursery April next year too and I have been thinking about starting around that age and hopefully she will be a bit more verbal in being able to tell me a bit more. Thinking around that age will be a good place to start?

Aw, my younger one turns two in February as well, haha ☺️
Yes, I think it's a good place. Until you could talk about it to her, maybe let her see it, play songs about it. Get the idea on the table until then. There are some cute books about potty too.

I think for us helped a lot that she saw her older sister do the potty so now she has a poo on the potty sometimes too. Not everyday, but at least sometimes.

Thankyou for your help and advice I will definitely look into books and stuff about it to sort of put the idea out there for her so she becomes a bit more aware☺️

You're very welcome 🤗 And good luck!!

We have a potty hanging around for him to get familiar with, and talking about poo and wee a lot! We’ve got a book about using a potty and just generally getting him used to the idea.
He will tell us about poos, and the other day he bloody waited until I took the nappy off to pee everywhere! And he definitely was controlling it and thought it was funny 🫣
He will sit on his potty in a nappy and say “poo” but doesn’t actually go yet. So we are waiting a bit longer until he understands wee a bit more and consistently tells us “poo” before he goes. He needs to be able to communicate it well IMO before we can help him use the potty
