Hello! I’m 12 weeks pregnant and 17… I’ve had a lot of scenarios run through my head of what if I did it this way or what if I did it that way and it’s scary, incredibly scary. The baby’s father would be more of a handful than the baby itself with all of the drama and I’m stressing over if I should keep it… I know with logistics and with the situation at hand the best thing may be to get rid of it but I have these thoughts of what if they could be amazing, and to never have that same amazing person again, my mom was a teen mom she had two kids at the age of 17 so I know it’s doable and can be done well but it still wasn’t easy growing up that way and I want something better for my children whether that be now or in 10 years…any advice? I’m really torn I think in my heart I want it but everything else tells me it’s not a good idea and it will be a mess and not beneficial for everyone

Personally at this age I think abortion is a great choice. Though it’s doable to some extent and very often teen parents also had teen parents who did it, our current economy is horrible. My husband and I work two full time well paying jobs and it is still a constant struggle. Chances of poverty are the reality, and that typically persists. You will need financial help and help with everything else involved…but if you decide to keep the baby, life is about to change drastically. Stay in school, attempt to get a realistic option moving forward afterwards to make money - a certificate working in the medical field is a great option for stable income…apply for benefits once you’re 18….and swallow the pill that you’re losing the experiences most get to have in their twenties - a baby replaces that - which babies are also a blessing once they’re here - but it takes maturity and perseverance to work through the normal desires of a young person. Friends will move on, rely on your family!

If your heart tells you it wants it then keep it. Children are a blessing from God, even though motherhood can be and most of the times is extremely hard. Think abt the amount of women that want children and simply can’t conceive. Your child is your biggest blessing and biggest present even if you can’t think like that atm and you’re only 17. I understand the fact that it can be overwhelming finding out your pregnant especially being 17, but please don’t think like that. “Get rid of it” you shouldn’t even put it that way, as it is a life that you are carrying inside of you, it’s not like choosing to keep an outfit or throw it away. I’m not trying to be judgmental and I am sorry if it is coming across that way but you’re nearly 18 which means you’re nearly an adult. I am not romanticising the situation and I know you have options and are totally free to choose whichever one you want

But think that if it happened is for a reason Gods plans are way better than ours even when we don’t understand them. Think that in a few years time you’ll have a wee bestie that will bring joy into your life just to see them growing up. If you decide to not keep it you might think it’s the best decision now but once you get older you might regret it. As I said at the end of the day its totally up to you, it’s entirely your choice. But if you do decide to keep it I’m sure everything will fall into place with or without your the baby dad’s support. He’s not the most important thing rn and if he only gives you bother you can believe that you are totally capable of doing this without having to rely on him. Wish you the best x

Have you a trusted elder you can talk to and talk through everything? I had my son at 18 and although I wouldn’t change him I would change having him so young. I went through a lot
I really appreciate all that you’ve said and I’m honestly so surprised of all the comments I have gotten but you were very down to eat tvh straight forward this is this and I appreciate that, I do have a job but I haven’t been working here long and it’s a total downgrade from my last one, I had almost 3 grand saved just for future expenses last year from that job but being jobless from may to September it dwindled down and now I’m making significantly less so definitely still looking for better options…oh and yeah, I’ve definitely cried a lot so far hahaha
thank you for your advice and support💜
my mom knows and because of the father half the administration at my school so plenty of adults know but I feel like so many people are trying to think for me and that’s incredibly stressful especially with such a big thing
that’s one of my biggest concerns I decide because of where I’m at now not to keep it and the regret kills me later on and all the curiousity and the questions and I don’t know how I would cope with that
living in south Florida where I live now, it’s way to expensive the cheapest apartment you can find is a studio for 1500 a month that’s absolutely insane, I most definitely could never do it on my own, if I do keep i i do intend to stay in school and figure out college whether it’s school on line or whatever, but I also feel dread for all the experiences I will be missing out on but then I think again, I’ve never been much for social I don’t like crowds or parties, I think if I can finally come to terms with the fact I never liked that in general and stop trying to fit in then I would be perfectly fine missing out

Well remember it is your choice and nobody else’s 💞 could you go stay somewhere for a few days to try think straight without family or close friends having an opinion?
thank you I really appreciate showing support for the other side
my safe place used to be my bf’s house but his parents are the most controlling of the situation, I haven’t went there in at least a month since they made his birthday all about his mom wanting me to get an abortion and his dad wanting him to walk out lmao

I think with something like this it's a completely personal decision. The babies father sounds like a waste of space so sounds like you'd have to do this by yourself and it would be a struggle. I guess what you have to ask yourself is whether you do get an abortion if you can live with that because you can say you're doing it for the right reasons. Then you can work hard until you're ready again to have a baby when you're older & have a house, a loving father for your child & a better circumstance for you & future baby. You'd just have to keep pushing forward & use this as your lesson and learn from it. Or if you think you won't cope with the guilt & you'd always wonder, then have your baby, it will be hard & a struggle but you will have your baby & you'll figure it out. It's a really difficult decision & something you shouldn't do lightly, you need to figure out which option is best & go with it. Sending you lots of support & hope you find the strength, whatever your decision & whatever is right for you 💕
thank you, I really appreciate this, it’s so hard for me to actually know what I want and honestly even what I’m feeling most of the time so as much as I’ve thought about it I just feel like it’s a dead end but I think your reply really helped, I do think it I were to have an abortion though the feeling when I found out I were pregnant again in the future would be devastating and exciting at the same time ut would draw out all of those feelings from the time before and everything that happened, but at the end of the day I have to decide what i think is the best

Hey, I got pregnant at 18 and had my daughter at 19. It’s hard I’ll admit but it’s possible. I was working part time whilst pregnant. When I went on mat leave I was applying for better jobs as I knew I didn’t want to be in the one I’m in. 3 years later Iand I’ve almost completed my qualification to be a chartered accountant and I’m only going up from here
It’s a lonely process people will come and go out of your life. You’re gonna cry, you’re gonna be upset with the world but I don’t regret one bit of it. Honestly having my daughter was my light at the end of the tunnel. She honestly saved my life
At the end of the day it’s your decision. You have to think whether the pros outweigh the cons. Are you content with the fact that you may miss out on things other 17 year olds do. What is your plan for yourself in terms of career wise? Do you understand that you may have to go through things alone?
