You know that you don’t have to put him in a cot if you don’t feel comfortable doing so? There is absolutely no reason why a baby should be in their own room!

Iv had family members and friends telling me he should be in his own room 🥹 he was so unsettled in there tonight, brought him in with me and he was asleep with minutes!x

that’s very uneducated and outdated advice. Biologically babies are “designed” to sleep close to their mothers. There is also a reason why the recommendation is to have them in parents room for AT LEAST the first 6 months. The 6 months is a minimum, not a maximum. It is the safest and the most natural way for a baby and a mother to be. There is a reason why most babies are most settled when in their mothers arms. You are doing great and are following your instincts and I bet your baby is happier that way too. As long as it works for you there is no good reason why it should be otherwise.

it’s only a guide for them to move into their own room at 6 months and even then that’s a minimum not a maximum. I live in a 2 bed place with my sister so until I can save enough to go solo, he’ll be my bunk mate too🤣🤣

I personally enjoy having him in with me but when it is time to move him over and when I’m ready, I’ve got a Cubo AI monitor to use & a family at my work gifted me their movement & breathing monitor to give me peace of mind which sounds neurotic (and many people judge me for) but I’d rather have it with how poorly my boy’s been from birth and I know it’s what will work for us xx

My friends little girl is 18 months and still in her room. That is due to their situation, but, you can move your little one when you're ready. If you have room, could you try a cot in your room first? Or move the next to me away from the bed and start that way. Good luck x

@Alex i don't have the room due to the size of my bed and where the next2me is x

Mines was in her own cot in her own room at 4 months purely because she couldn't roll in her next 2 me and would not sleep a wink and I was willing to try anything at that point, I was losing my mind with sleep deprivation. She slept the best she ever had the first night she was in her own room. I was awake watching her all night on the monitor as I was so anxious. But if she didn't need that space I'd have kept her beside us for as long as possible. You know your baby best. If you want to keep him in your room and he's happy with that set up then there's no issue. And anyone elses opinion doesn't matter. Even when he out grows his next to me, if you can fit a cot in your room and still want him beside you then why not. I grudge walking to my girls room when she wakes during the night. I get cold. I wake up too much. Spend an hour at the back of it trying to fall back asleep... Keep that baby beside you as long as it works!!!

I have a preemie, he's almost 9 months, 7 corrected and I moved him into his own room three days ago. Purely because he was ready. We were disturbing him and hed started waking up again during the night.
I struggled with this a lot more than he did. I think it's very normal. We've got a day bed in his room and I'm not going to lie last night I ended up in there with him. My biggest comfort is his owlet sock. I know these have mixed opinions but it's done wonders for my anxiety.
Don't feel pressured into it though. If you and baby aren't ready, keep them in with you. Baby is still so young, we rush so much, and there isn't any need.

I'm looking in2 the owelette sock, my baby wasn't prem but he was an emergency c section born not breathing and was on oxygen for 4 days in NICU, he naps in the day, fine, but night i just can't do it, im on my own but once he's asleep, he's asleep and doesn't stir when i come to bed or move x

it doesn't sound like he needs to move just yet then. If you aren't ready that's completely fine!
