Covid vaccine

Hi hun, I’m currently 15+1, also working in NHS and had a booster letter in the post.
I’m pro vaccines and also have had all my previous jabs but like you, felt really torn about this - The only reasons being, partly because of certain family members comments that got in my head referencing me having the vaccine in a previous pregnancy (which ended in a loss)
And partly due to a pregnant colleague of mine saying she wasn’t happy to have it.
I felt really unsure of what to do.
I used this link to get as much info as possible about the research and evidence about it..
I decided to have it (appointment was Wednesday)
My reasons being, the research shows no difference in women who had miscarriages or stillbirths who had had the vaccine vs those who hadn’t.
I also remember very well during covid working on the women and children’s speciality where we had so many poorly pregnant women who had to be ventilated in intensive care (all unvaccinated). It was so sad to see…

… I just decided that especially in late 2nd/3rd trimester, I would be so worried if I did get covid and hadn’t had any vaccines.

I was really torn like you and don’t think anyone should feel bad about their decision, no matter what it is, because we’re all just doing what we believe is best for our little babies 🥰

Obviously your concerns etc may be very different to mine so I do recommend having a good look though these FAQs as they were really informative 😊

Hi all, my midwife advised me against it, and being and older first timer I’ve decided against it I’m just not sure there’s enough years to know enough about it. I’m not an antivaxer I am up to date and haven’t been invited to a booster.

@Hayley why did your midwife advise against it? I'm assuming that was her personal opinion rather than evidence based?

My midwife is all for me having it. Like said above, do your own research on whether the benefits outweigh the risks. There is no proof that the vaccine has a higher link in miscarriage or anything of the sorts.

I’ve had my flu jab, I’m having my covid jab tomorrow , and I’ll be having my whooping cough vaccine once I hit 20 weeks.

Ultimately it is your choice and your choice only. Please don’t let other peoples opinions change your mind.
Some will tell you the worst stories about having it and others will tell you the worst stories about not having it.

At the end of the day, the choice is yours and yours only. Please do what you think is right.

hi, I think the flu jab is safe during pregnancy. It wouldn’t be advised if the risks were high.

I had flu when I was 13 and I honestly felt like I was dying. It was the worst experience of my whole life and I truly wouldn’t wish flu on ANYONE. I can’t imagine how flu would be if I was pregnant
I’d much rather get vaccinated than get flu.

But again, my comment from before. It is completely YOUR choice and please don’t let anyone change your mind. There’s some good articles online to do some research or give your midwife a call/text and explain how your feeling.

Again , it is your choice and if you feel that the vaccine isn’t safe enough then that is also a completely valid feeling and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise

I had my COVID legit 2 weeks ago and was fine. Flu jab knocked me out. My thought is even if I got a little sick then the benefit outweighed the sickness at the time. Ita a very personal choice but for me it massively outweighed the risks to get it

Honestly I am not covid vaccinated or never got a flu shot and I never had the flu and i did have covid twice but i fought it off but i heard alot of horror stories about getting the covid vaccines few people I know were hospitalized if you’re getting the shots

I had two Pfizer doses during my previous pregnancy, and had another booster and flu jab during the first trimester this time, never had a problem with any of these, my son was fine during pregnancy and birth, and this baby seems fine too, I think the benefits definitely outweigh the risk.
In 2021 my midwife told me to wait until the second trimester to get vaccinated, I kindly ignored her personal opinion due to the lack of scientific evidence, and now there’s even more evidence proving that the vaccine is safe!x

@Gabrielle Brown in my experience (from working in a hospital), more people (especially pregnant women) are hospitalised unvaccinated. It's best to follow scientific data from trusted sources x
