My son pees and it's strong smelling, but it's pee. He's 2. He doesn't cry when he pees or anything. He drinks water, some juice and milk. Should I completely cut out the juice? His Grandparents are convinced his pee smells because he's not drinking enough water. I don't think that's it. Any advice?

I mean, my son drinks a ton of water--has always had a disproportionate appreciation for water--and his pee smells pretty intense (have to change his pants along with diaper once or twice a day because it's so intense). Unless your doctor says something about it or it looks dark, I wouldn't worry; so far, our pediatrician has been unconcerned.

What type of smell? Just a strong pee smell? Or something else.
Any vitamins? Maybe a certain type of food? Asparagus or even Golden Puff cereal can make your pee smell different.
If he's going pee at least 5 times a day, he's probably not dehydrated, but I always say push water over juice. And do fresh fruit instead of juice.
If you're concerned you can take him to the doctor and if they think it's necessary they can send you to a urologists. If it goes that route, and they have to do a catheter, if he's not circumcised, don't let them retract the foreskin.

My baby had a strong pee smell. I took her to her to the doctors. They were not concerned. They just said it was probably what she ate. The smell went away on its own after a couple days. I would just monitor to see if it gets better.
