IUD anyone have it?

So I had mine put in about January last year and I’m so over it 😂

First 4 months I had periods that were so heavy I went through pads like crazy. I should of bought shares in the company it was that bad. Dr gave me pills to settle it down.

Fast forward till now and I swear I have a period for 2 weeks. Not heave but just there (like spotting but a tad heavier). 2 weeks bleeding 1.5 weeks not 1/2 week in Grey area. It’s so annoying so irregular!

Anyone else have this? Does it fixits self. My partner says take the iud out and go back to cycle monitoring like we used to but I’m on the fence as I enjoy not having to think and monitor, but I’m so over the constant periods!!!!!!!!!!

I had the copper one for about four months before I gave up. Cramps, bleeding, spotting, all of it. Wasn’t worth the trouble.

I know a lot of ppl do have normal experiences. I think the type matters. I seem to see more people with issues with the copper one. I couldn’t get the hormonal ones because they would mess with my psych meds

Which type of IUD do you have?

I got the Mirena and I've only gotten my period once in the last 5 months and it was very light. But I did have really bad cramping the first month

mirena

omg lucky. That’s pretty much what the dr promised me 😂 but nope. So over it.

I never knew they could mess with meds.

I'm on my fourth copper coil. My experience with the first three was excellent, but unfortunately this one seems to have gone wandering. I went to have it removed, and they couldn't find it, so I'm waiting for an ultrasound to see if it's still in there and if so where.

yeah. If you read about it online, the reviews are mixed, but I’ve been on hormonal birth control in the past, and my mood stabilizer basically stopped working

Avatar

that might explain my “crazy” moods then. Interesting.

oh wow. I’ve had the mirena since September 6th and I’ve just had two prolonged periods. The first one did last like 3 weeks though. Then it stopped now I’ve been on it for just over a week and the bleeding pattern is so weird. I guess it does differently to different people

Avatar

omg! Good luck! I hope they find it xx

I got the copper one years ago. I had it 3 months but bled the entire time! I was like it's 100% birth control cuz nothing is happening lol. I got it out! I now have the mirena. Got it Dec 2020 and it took some time for my periods to be light. But I've had no problems with the Mirena.

I had it for so long and it sucks. I just track ovulation now. Fuck birth control. Sorry I deal with thyroid issues and fibroids now so I just like to blame being on birth control for that I’m probably wrong but that iud gave me the worst periods

I had the Mirena in between my pregnancies (currently due Nov 12) and it was pretty good. My OB said they all like it cause it stopped their periods but I still had mine but it was way less than normal. I actually had a lot of brownish sludgy blood which Dr Google said was old lining. I’m on a mood stabilizer and didn’t have issues with it messing that up. Probably going to go back on it after I have this baby - 2 and through!

Mirena lightened my period a ton, it may just not be the right choice for you.

I have the Mirena as well, but I'm getting it removed after 3 years. My period is sporadic and like 2 weeks long, and the cramps are painful af. Not to mention my mood swings and weight gain, which my Dr told me wouldn't happen like it did with the depo shot. On the depo shot, I gained 40lbs. On Mirena, I gained 130lbs, and I've managed to only lose 20 working my ass off the last 2 years. So it really does depend on you. I'm probably going to just get off of bc all together and start trying to monitor it. Maybe my body has decided after all the years of bc it's just done with it. Maybe idk 😅

Thank you ladies. Guess I’m just an unlucky one who’s body hates birth control (and to make it worse I have not lost baby weight even after trying so hard.) haha making appointment to get it removed.

do not put pressure on yourself to lose baby weight!!! Were moms not super models!! As long as you're healthy. I'm sure you look hot so don't be too hard on yourself. 💗
