anyone with experience with gj tubes or maybe just continuous feeds on g tube? i really need to talk.
my son has been vomiting profusely for nearly 3 months so now they wanna possibly do the gj surgery AND put him on continuous. I just got our lives somewhat together and started taking him to the library so we could make friends.he is very physically delayed due to the vomiting like still working on tummy time at 8 months.
I missed the nicu support group meeting I meant to go to tonight so the next one isn't for another week & the medically fragile group I also go to isn't for 2. I need to converse with someone who gets it and reassurance that it isn't that bad to be back on continuous and it will get better tbh.
I'm so sad. bolus gave us so much freedom and he's gaining great this month at 30g/1oz a day but he's in pain and having problems breathing when he vomits bc its mostly bilious and nothing has helped so far.
I don't want another surgery and I'd hate for him to be permanently attached to a pole (or at least pump) again. I know we can grab the backpack and go but it's so hard to keep feeds going and I just don't wanna have to do this. but I can't stand to see him in pain and unable to hold him lest I cause him to throw up more. he's puking minimally once a day and has since the beginning of August. his record is 7 in one day and not spitups. medium or large/full feed emeses.
I honestly don't even know how he's gaining so much with the amount of volume he's losing. he's dehydrated and constipated because of it.
is the gj surgery the right thing to do if we can't find out what is causing this and nothing else works? when should we start considering it? what did yall do?

If u still need to talk I have a baby that just got out of the nicu a few weeks ago with her g tube. We do continuous night feedings

Hi I have a G-tube tube baby, just got out of the nicu 3 weeks ago. Doctor was also suggesting GJ surgery. Because of my baby's reflux she would sometimes throw up her full feeds. And sometimes she still does but we learned what makes it better is holding her about 20 to 30 mins after her feed before putting her down.
