Hiya, my son is 6½ months, half Chinese, half Pakistani.
I cut off contact with his dad and the rest of his dad's side of the family. I'd go into detail but it's so long. Just to be clear there is no one speaking mandarin around him.
My own Mandarin is embarrassing. I can probably say single sentences to get my point across.
My question is, how do I teach my son mandarin when I don't really know it? Especially when the only Chinese speaking family members are not in contact with us?
If you have links to resources that can help him from now, that would be really helpful

I know some people hire tutors just to speak to babies for 1-2 hours a week before they can even speak.
You can always try Chinese cartoon.

I was thinking cartoons as well haha, the tutor might be a bit out of my budget but I might have to try and contact his dad to pay for a tutor instead. Unlikely but might be worth a shot.
But I'll definitely try the cartoons

I think this is a popular Chinese cartoon. Don't know if it's too complicated for 6 months old babies though.
There's also Peppa Pig in Chinese on YouTube.

thank you so much! He will learn English easily because that's the only language I'm fluent properly in haha, I wanted hon to be bilingual so that he keeps some of his mandarin heritage even without his dad's family to help him 😅

Following, but for us, we want our kids to learn Cantonese.
