Hijab during birth

This might be an usual question but do you wear hijab during child birth?
I’m a revert and I know during medical emergencies you don’t have to wear hijab but is it not uncomfortable leaving the house without hijab to go to the hospital? I feel dumb asking this question because you probably don’t give this a thought when you’re in pain but I just have random questions 😭😂

I’ve actually never thought about this 🤣 but I’m sure you’d definitely leave the house wearing your hijab and just take it off if and when when needed x

I've been thinking about this as well, I'd probably wear it fir as long as possible. If during the actual birth I feel I need to take it off then I will as it would only be medical personnel around anyway.

If it's a c-section, it would have to come off anyway as you'd be going into theatre which would be an aseptic environment.

Thanks for actually taking this question serious 😂🫶🏻 just been so curious

Loool. Omg I used to think about this. Let me tell you when you're in pain you will not give 2 mushrooms about your hair😂😂😂😂 a Muslim midwife after u gave birth said, yes all your dignity leaves when you have a baby. And it's true! If you think about it and you want to, go ahead. But if you don't (cos you're in that much pain, then dw. You really won't care after 5 people have checked down there hahahaha

I wore mine to the hospital cos my contractions didn't get super painful until I was at the birth centre. But when they took me down to get epidural (failed attempt cos I was already pushing by then lol) I honestly didn't even think about anything other than get me the epidural!!

So best tip I can give is to just go with how you feel in the moment inshallah.

Allah ease your delivery!

You can request only female staff members

This is not a dumb question at all! I did and I’m sure other hijabis think the same. So I wore hijab to the hospital and then when I got to the birthing room I took it off because it was just females in there and I just had a hijab cap on. Then when things got crazy lol it fell off at some point but by that point it doesn’t matter. When my baby was actually born and for all the moments after I didn’t have it on

Not a dumb question but I’ll be honest hun, when your whole vagina is out and legs spread to east and west you won’t care what’s on your head 😂 but like others have said you can request female staff. I don’t wear hijab full time but I was in the birth centre which only has women midwives working there. I was completely naked the whole time lmfao x

Lol this was one of my big worries and was a worry whilst I was in the Labour suite. I did have it on for a majority of the time it probable had no use but I think mentally I just needed to know my hijab was there and thankfully the midwife was really nice so when I was being transferred to theatre after they put the theatre gown on she covered my hair lightly with my hijab so it did come off several times when the midwife was there but when males entered the room she knew what it meant to me and made an effort to help put it on

I just recently had a c section and wore my hijab in the procedure

Avatar

went to the hospital dressed as normal
had to have an emergency c-section so i took it off when i had to put on the hospital gown and start prepping for the procedure

First child I kept it on second child it came off!

oh i also want to mention i personally brought a long thick robe with a hood and wore that for the duration of my stay (3 days) because i could not bother to get dressed or put on hijab (i could barely even sit down or stand up lol)
i had to waddle back and forth from the nicu so i’d just throw the robe on and put the hood up

I wore mine to the hospital but then it came off in the ward and in the birthing suite. My husband said its fine to keep it off and not to worry.
I wore a long robe to cover my legs when i went to the toilet on the ward but at times i forgot to throw my scarf on my head.

In sha Allah all goes well with all our next births and we have healthy little babies x
