Feeling like and awful mum - been using deep heat for months without knowing it’s bad

I’m currently 17 weeks pregnant and have been using deep heat pretty regularly for the past month or so at night time to help me sleep when I’ve had back or knee pain. Where it’s always very late at night and the tube doesn’t mention not to use in pregnancy I’ve not researched it further until tonight when I found out it’s a big no no and now feel physically sick and anxious that I might have been damaging my baby. Not too sure what to do, I’ve chucked it out but don’t think I’m going to be able to sleep out of guilt and worry. I’ve had a healthy pregnancy before and this time round I’ve been so much more lax around the guidelines and checking what I can and can’t do and so now feel like I’ve been the worst mum to this little one and have let it down already.

Don’t worry! Just stop using it from now on. From googling I think it’s harmful after you are 20 weeks. It sounds like it’s just one of those things that’s more of a precaution honestly, because it’s due to the ibuprofen but you’re not actually ingesting it. Honestly it’ll be absolutely fine, speak to your midwife for that bit of reassurance if you need it of course! You are not a bad mum and have not let your baby down xx
