My aunt is close to me, but recently my baby caught COVID and she sent me a long condescending text message shaming me saying that babies should not travel, socialize with others, or go to Publix events. She also said I don’t prioritise him and that all he needs is to eat, sleep, and be loved.
I take my son out because I don’t live in fear but I protect him in all the possible ways I can, as well as keep updated on the research on Covid.
She consistently give me unsolicited advice - including that he is being underfed simply
Because I’m breastfeeding. He’s growing well, reaching all his milestones, and loves his solids and breast milk.
How do you politely tell her to not speak to me that way and to set clear boundaries? Any help would be appreciated!

I don't even think I would try to be extra polite I would 100% just say to mind her business, that's rude af

I have that same problem with mum sometimes I just don't know how to approach her to stop advising and checking up on me and 'making sure' and stuff, I don't need parenting over my parenting if I need advice I'll ask... So yes it's hard sometimes with your most loved ones especially the way to approach politely and stuff but if it got to this point you're describing I would probably have lost it and just defended my family I mean why do people always think they know better?

I think this is an older generation thing. Every time my baby catches something my mum says she was expecting it, because I took her to x place or because my friend visited on that day. It is really annoying but at this point I just don't bother replying anymore. My daughter is 14 months, she is going to nursery and she brings home a lot of viruses. I have been sick for 3 weeks already along with her. Babies will catch things and there is nothing to do about it. My daughter had covid when she was 6 months and honestly she got over it a lot quicker than me. People will talk and it's energy consuming to stress about all they say. You know you do what you think is best for your child so just don't bother with the rest.

Does she have kids of her own? No way of being polite when she didn't consider being polite to you, straight up remind her of her position, and that she had her time parenting so to back off... most likely a projection too, maybe something similar happened to her in her early days of motherhood 🤷🏼♀️ or like many the older generation, they feel guilty of the mistakes they made (or ones that had no children, the regret of not having children) so they try to reparent through anothers child.
Your mother, and you know best! Your going everything right, and to keep baby in a bubble is more dangerous than Mixing them into the outside world, with your breastfeeding & carefulness he will build a great immune system & plus you have all antibodies in your breast milk from any existing viruses/bacterias etc etc 💚

I would say "I dont appreciate you talking to me like im less then (insert name)" " i understand this is how you feel but as the parent i will be the one to make decisions on my child." "If you can not respect those decisions, there will be no contact till you understand how to respect it"
