Hi ladies, I am 3 months postpartum today. Yesterday my partner and I got physical,he hit me so hard and chocked me too, luckily I managed to escape with my baby and I called for help from the neighbours. I am safe but I can’t help feel betrayed and hurt and sad. It happened before but it wasn’t this bad. I don’t know what to do because this is my second marriage after a failed one and I already have another child who was away at her dad’s place when this all happened. I don’t even have strength to start again but I don’t know how to face this situation.😭😭

This isn’t your fault.
Get out now.
Get support.
Get the help you need, mental, emotional, etc.
Please do this for yourself and your children.
Understand that your children are looking and relying on you for positive role models and safety and their young, formative years are incredibly important and have so much to do with how and what they turn into as an adult.
Things do get better, I am proof of that.
If your ex finds out, he could have grounds to come after you for full custody.
You do not deserve this no matter what!
This is not a failure, this is a door trying to close so you can be done, move on, and have future doors open that will reveal what you deserve and what your children deserve.
Please be safe and please reach out.
You are welcome to message me for resources.
I’ve been there, it sucks, but I promise you it gets so so so much better. 🙏 💗

I’m so proud of you for leaving. You can do this mama. You didn’t deserve that. You deserve good things.
You’re so, so strong. Please don’t go back. Don’t question how many times you’ve been married. You deserve not to be hurt. You deserve to be protected and loved.
Please don’t go back.
I’ve been there. It does NOT get better.

1. It is not your fault. Anybody that chooses to be violent against you is at fault.
2. Please do not go back. Statistics show that if you've been choked then you're at a much higher risk of death if you stay with the person that choked you.
3. You did not fail in your relationship. I know that it's so hard to walk away because of the sunk cost fallacy. I stayed with my abusive ex much too long because I felt like I had to. Stay somewhere safe. Get a restraining order. Do what you need to do to protect yourself and your child.

I’m so sorry this happened to you, especially after you’ve just had a baby. However this is one of the most common times for DA/DV to occur (during pregnancy or just after baby). You have done nothing to warrant this horrific violence from him. The choking is incredibly concerning and I absolutely agree with other advice you have received, you need to leave.
BUT you have to make sure you do it safely and with support as leaving is also a very dangerous time in a violent relationship. Are you in the UK? Xx
