Why is drinking from a cup different to a bottle?

Surely milk will touch their teeth either way….?

Just asking because we’ve been practising having water from an open cup and I thought, why am I doing this, I’m never going to give him his milk from an open cup, it’d be carnage for him to do it himself and for me to do it takes precision and would go on for bloody ages!

I hear the tum tum is good for milk but honestly I’ve spent so much money on cups he doesn’t take to I’m fed up!

My baby is now refusing milk in his bottle so I’m trying his straw cup. I’m the same as you refuse to buy anymore cups and if the cup was open he would throw it everywhere 🙄🙄🙄 x

It’s about their teeth alignment too not just milk getting on teeth. The suction from the bottle nipple is what tends to cause issues there.

I agree with this 😂 also the suction from the bottle cup thing also confuses me because thatwould be like 5/10 minutes everyday? How can that be enough time to change the alignment of their teeth? 🤦🏽‍♀️ and what about babies that use dummies?

Haha ok at least I’m not alone here 🙈 feeling so pressured but also thinking… where is this actually getting us?

Anyone else just feel like they turn one and it’s like bam! Here’s a whole new bunch of shit they suddenly need to do overnight 🤦🏻‍♀️ stressing me out!

I'm not transitioning to a cup, he's only on 2 bottles a day and I will keep it that way for a good while. I did the same with my first and they had no issues with their teeth at all. I agree there's alot of pressure to take health visitors advice sometimes.

I’m honestly in no rush to get her to use a cup to drink milk. Someone on here said you’ve not ever seen a grown child or adult drink from a bottle, so why rush everything once they turn 1? Some HVs really think it’s a race against time 😂

I’m not rushing to change her bottles to cups. she’s only literally just had her teeth come through so I’m not really worried by teeth, my grandad used to give us sweet tea in bottles when I was a baby/toddler, and I was a thumb sucker which took ages for me to grow out of and my teething alignment is ok. Doesn’t seem fair for her to turn 1 and all her comforts are taken away to say you are now a child not a baby
