6 month check up

My daughter turned 6 months a week ago and i still haven’t had any contact from my health visitor about her 6 month check up - when does this usually happen? Can it be a couple of weeks after ? Or should I contact my HV?

My baby doesn’t have a check up til 1year now, but it depends on areas. I would give them a call and query if you’d like one. My visits have all been booked well in advance. Xx

Next time we’ll see the HV will be 1yo, never heard of a 6mo one

i saw my HV when my daughter has her 16 week injections and she said she would arrange the 6 month check up around my work schedule so I assummed she would contact me🙃 maybe I’ll give her a text thank you x

Wales and England have different guidelines of when HV should visit. Wales should get far more appointments but it depends on your area.
I hadn’t heard about mine so I phoned and they booked it for the following week. I had it today and she was 6 months last week

My friend had a 6M check up. But I don't think I'm gonna bother. So far the HV have been a waste of my time and petrol🙈

There is no 6 months check up. Next one is at 12 months.

I was told by my health visitor she would arrange it around my work schedule, I’m from wales so maybe it’s different ?

Avatar

really! She’s come to my house every visit!

Avatar

thank you! Did you ring your health visitor personally or the GP? X

We get 6 month appointments here (Wales) but I also go to a baby group weekly, which has a drop in baby clinic with HV, ability to weigh weekly etc. I'd ring if you want one, there may be a local drop in clinic you don't know about?

Avatar

In our area if you want a 6 month check you have to phone and ask for one

my HV. They’re open to you until the age of 4/5 so just give them a call

@Meg she came at 10 days I think but the next one I drove for 25 min to be in her office for 5 min.

Avatar

Think it depends on your area my boy hasn’t had a checkup since 12 weeks and we haven’t seen or heard of the HV since he was 7 weeks old

Avatar

yes, probably that’s why. In England it’s 12 months.

Wdy think of this for a toddler to learn word construction?

I'm open to anything else to start teaching him to read and write. He's 3!

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Naps

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Pumping advise

FTM to a 2 week old! I’m breastfeeding and then giving one formula bottle last in the evening before bed. I want to start expressing milk to give me some breathing room and also allow my partner to be more involved in feeding. I’m finding the idea of introducing pumping into my day quite overwhelming though. I don’t want to take milk away from my baby by pumping if he needs it during the day when being breastfeed.

Can anyone advise how I start pumping and when to do it? Thank you!

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.
