Travel system

Hello everyone, I’m 25 weeks and haven’t got a travel system sorted yet. I’m getting really overwhelmed with choice and no idea what to look for. How did everyone start/ what should I look for?

I think it really depends on what you need. My key things were suitable for all terrains so I can take the dog out and not be limited to staying on main roads, easy to fold up and that I could lift fairly easily to get into the car on my own

Yeah I want one that’s light and easy to fold down. I only have a small boot in my car as well

Go to Smyths toys I was incredibly overwhelmed with all the options and the price and after some Googling found that Smyths toys have a baby room - I went and they had LOADS of travel systems on display with so many staff to help they had more lower / mid range . I got a travel system for £399 honestly wish someone told me about it sooner xxx

Oh wow thank you! I’ll look into it xx

totally agree, was so surprised by the range they had, the prices abd great customer service.

Definitely recommend smyths. I had no clue what I wanted but was able to go there and the people that worked there were so helpful and showed me some, how they worked and how small they got folded up (I needed it to go small as I have a small car). They were really good!

can I ask what you went for?

I kept an open mind and kept checking Facebook marketplace. When something came up that looked good I researched it and checked reviews. Ended up with a Joolz 2 for £50 worth £749 https://www.joolz.com/uk/en/black-friday/530110.html?kb=ga_pm_17738277274_&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA0syqBhBxEiwAeNx9NwCJjWY9IWku_nNNCAqk_VrCil5eso5hn8ysOGGJ-amnWHJA9GRwmxoCAiMQAvD_BwE and was gifted a maxi cosi cabrofix car seat that fits with adapters

I’m 26 weeks and it got mine sorted either. Waiting until Black Friday!

I’m going for Ocarro from mamas and papas, my brother and SIL used it, it lasted them 4 years, two kids and two holidays abroad.

Avatar

absolutely! We were going to buy this new but it’s from in-laws neighbour who we know well and trust. It even fits our frame so it seemed it fate

We watched review videos on YouTube and researched comparisons online and narrowed it down to 3 travel systems before going into store. John Lewis were really helpful and if you book an appointment you get 15% off!

We went to a baby planet store, they had loads of the main brands so we could try them all out, pushing them, folding them, switching seats, looking at car seats etc. it was really helpful. Went for the oyster 3 in the end and will use again with this baby as it’s still in perfect working condition! X

I would really recommend going into a store and asking someone for help.
We booked in for a mamas and papas consultation, first baby, we were clueless!! went for the Ocarro as it felt secure and covered everything we needed, mamas and papas also price match so we got a good deal on the travel system. The staff were really good as they had a list of our wants/ needs before the appointment and it was far less overwhelming than looking online

Everyone’s needs are different for example the area you live. I live really rural so needed an all terrain pram but if you live in cities you obv wouldn’t. My partners tall so I wanted to make sure the seat length was good incase she ends up being tall too. John Lewis do a nursery advice service and you get 10/15% off. I found that really helpful and they aren’t pushy to buy anything although I had mine once I already knew which I was getting so you could go there and they will recommend based on your needs. You need to consider the size of it, the weight of it, if you want it to be able to turn into a double in the future, I wanted a decent storage basket

Avatar

I went into mamas and papas and tested nearly all the prams!
Went for the Strada, as it folds down super small for my boot, and the set came with a ‘lie-flat’ car seat so baby can be safer for longer journeys x

I’ve just bought the Venicci Upline last weekend and I’m 25 weeks but it’s so overwhelming! I went to kiddie kingdom in Dewsbury as they have loads and go through anything you want your pram to have ie big wheels/ long handle etc you could also try newbie and me in Leeds. They always have good deals on and with Black Friday too. I ended up buying from baby care in Bradford as it was closer for me. Xx

Avatar

Thanks guys, we went to smyths and tried out the prams but ended up getting the egg 2. Really easy to put up/down with 1 person and seems sturdy but fairly light weight for getting in and out of my car

We got last seasons colour so got about £500 off ❤️
