Rhesus negative

Those who are rhesus negative - at your 16 appointment did your midwife do a blood test to check the baby’s blood group? I can’t remember at what stage they can now check this. Thanks

At my trust, it's 16 weeks. You can ask your midwife to double-check. If you need anti D, then it will be given around 28 weeks and at birth x

Had all my bloods at 12 and at my 16 week appointment she went through all the results with me x

thank you I thought it was 16 weeks. My first born was also rhesus negative so worked out okay so I’m hoping will be the same for this baby!

@Linda are you talking about the booking bloods (1st tests) or the specific test that checks for baby's blood group after you've already had your booking bloods results? X

Fingers crossed for you! X

I’m rhesus negative and I knew this before pregnancy, I had my bloods done at my booking appointment and again at my 16 week one but no one mentioned about checking babies blood type and I’ve not been told anything since? Should I ask or? X

I think it’s something that has been in place for I’d say at least the last 4 years! They can basically test for babies blood group, if negative then no intervention needed, they’ll just do a test again when baby is born. But if baby is + then you’d need the anti-D during your pregnancy xx

My midwife tried to take blood from me at the 16 weeks appointment, but failed. Twice 😑 So instead I'm just gonna get the Anti-d injection when it's time
