We are going on a 13 hr trip tomorrow and are trying to plan stops for our 8mo. I’m reading articles online that say your baby shouldn’t be in a seat for longer than 2 hours every 24 hrs?! What is safe but also realistic? Should we plan to stop every 2 hours. We are planning to drive through the night so she sleeps and I hate to wake her every 2.

Your baby is safe I'm their carseat. You can drive through yhe night people make those posting because they don't want people to use carseats as sleeping units but for travel it is okay

I think it's more about repeated log use, it's warning about...also small babies under 4 months with no head control. They will sink and slouch into the carseat. I would say go until they start fussing and then stop and give them a stretch break.

If she sleeps then i say just let her sleep
I went on a 5 hour road trip when she was 3 months and i stopped every 2 unless she was sleeping
We are taking another 5 hour trip for christmas and now that she’s older we will only stop if she gets fussy or we all need to stretch our legs

Let baby sleep and if she happens to wake find a spot safe spot to pull and let her stretch. We haven’t traveled since having our daughter but did make a a very long road with my 4 year old when she was 3 month old. She slept most of the night and we only stopped to feed her and let her stretch and same for our 6 year old being she was only 1 at the time. It’s easier to travel all night that way they can sleep.

Just did a 6 hour trip w my 8 month old, she slept in burst. Just pullover when needed

Also, if you have someone w you, have them sit in the back with baby. Makes things so much easier
