Getting a cold and so scared!!

My husband and toddler both just got over a bad cold, and I thought I was going to magically get through it unscathed but nope! I woke up this morning with a sore throat, congestion, and just a different kind of tired. I'm so worried about how this could affect my baby! I'm only 10 weeks pregnant and I know how fragile they are at this time. I've contacted my doctor but haven't heard back yet. No fever, husband never got one either, so I'm hoping it won't be a big deal but the anxiety is so real. What do you even do in this situation??

A simple cold won’t harm baby, don’t worry.

I had a cold at the beginning weeks then it turned into a lingering cough that has yet to leave. My dr was not worried as I had no mucus in my lungs.

I’ve had a cold already, baby was fine. Now I have a sinus infection that’s lingering. Worst part of the whole thing is not being able to take medicine! It’ll pass and baby will be fine 😊

I’m at 11 weeks and have had a horrible cold for the past two weeks that’s only starting to feel better today. I checked in with my midwives and the main thing they said to monitor is your temperature because while the cold itself won’t affect the baby (except by maybe providing them with some helpful antibodies to help them fight this when they’re out in the world!), a fever isn’t good for them so taking Tylenol (safe in pregnancy) if it gets above 100.4 is important. She also provided me with a list of cold medicine that’s safe in early pregnancy (note: not all of them are!!) which was very helpful. They also let me know that being sick lasts for longer in pregnancy because our immune system is wired differently to prevent an immune response to the baby. Anyway all of this is to say reach out to your doctor and hang in there! It may take awhile but it gets better!

I’m 11 weeks and I’ve literally been sick 3 times already. One was a full on sinus infection. You can take most allergy meds like Zyrtec or Benadryl. If you can keep a lot of water down, mucinex is also safe. I’ve been sticking to Tylenol and Zyrtec this time and I’m not feeling as dead. Rest and inhale liquids for a few days and if you’re lucky baby will get some antibodies lol.
