Induction or C section?

My induction ended in a csection, if I knew now what would have happened, I would have opted for a csection from the start. It was the best part of the whole experience for me personally. But my induction went very wrong and lasted a long time 😪

I was induced 6am on a Friday and ended with a c section where my baby girl was born 12:42pm on the Saturday. 28 hours and 55 minutes later🙄 I’d have opted for the section if I had to redo it all over..

I had 6 days of failed induction that ended up in c section. The section was great, everyone was amazing but the first few days after the section were horrible for me and made me glad that I tried everything possible for a chance of natural. It wasn't to be and my little boy arrived 9lb 10 by section. x

I was induced and that part lasted two days but brought my contractions on too strongly. They couldn't even start the hormone drip to bring them on more because it was too much for me and baby. I got to 4cm but It ended in a category 2 C-Section

I had an induction and had a vaginal delivery. The process was long due to lack of beds on delivery however I was allowed to go home to sleep and come back in for the daily monitoring. I also over reacted to the prostin and had it reversed but it still worked in under 12hrs to get to the point to break waters. From breaking waters to delivery with oxytocin drip took 13hrs and delivered my healthy and chunky 9lb 5 baby boy vaginally using remifent and gas and air.

I had an induction but it failed and it ended up in a category 3 c section. I can’t fault the c section itself - everyone was incredible and it was such a relaxing experience. The recovery is obviously harder but I was mobile from the 2nd day, as long as you keep on top of medication it’s definitely manageable. I’d have an elective c section again the next time around

This is what I’m nervous of … a failed induction … I’ve got pressure on me to decide what to do due to my baby’s size. Not sure what to do x

I opted for a planned c section due to baby’s size as I know the chances of a section after induction can be quite high and didn’t want to put myself or baby through the stress of a potentially failed labour. It was defiantly the right decision for us and I was able to take my own music, have delayed cord clamping and immediate skin to skin which is what I had hoped for. Although not what I had hoped for it was a calm and organised experience! Xx

@Danielle was your baby the size they predicted?

Last scan was predicting 8.12 and she was born 2 weeks later at 9.2 - they were predicting she could be as big as 10lb tho xx

Im booked in for c-section this Friday coming due to baby being on the bigger side, this is my personal choice due to the risks I've read and heard, such as induction not working, induction taking a crazy long time and the likelihood of it ending in an emergency c-section/instrumental delivery anyway. I was offered induction, c-section or just to wait and see. I didnt think twice about induction or to 'wait and see' and opted for the c-section in a heartbeat, the consultant also agreed that I was making a wise decision (for myself) I find that there is definitely still a stigma attached to women about having planned sections and not doing it the 'natural way', but for me I'd rather not experience labour and have the c-section if it means that we are both safe and not traumatised. Take your time to weigh up the benefits for you and baby. Look at legit papers and research about both options. Good luck 🥰

@Kerry how many weeks will you be when you have your section? I’m 39+3 and based on scan today, baby weighs 9lb15oz … they wanted me to do c section on Thursday, but if feels too soon for me to make that choice, so considering next Monday … (that’s for elective as they can do emergency at any time) x

I was induced and ended in emergency c section, like most people who’ve commented I’d never chose to do it again; I’d elect for c section from the off, it was the most easy/ calm bit of the whole experience - the recovery is definitely harder but they give you pain meds for at least 10 days and honestly you’re mobile surprisingly quickly, you get more midwife visits at home and whilst it’s frustrating not being able to drive or lift or bend much for 6 weeks id 100% do it again next time!

I will be 39 + 5 on Friday. I had a scan last week and baby's weight was approx 8lbs10oz, his predicted birth weight is 9lbs4oz. It might be worth highlighting any particular points that you're worried about with your midwife, they can then go through them with you. I saw my midwife for the final time yesterday, we just chatted about the process and what will happen on the day. It was really reassuring! X

I’ve been in this predicament but have decided on an C section. Purely because I have bad anxiety and the not knowing would make me worse 🥺 it’s a hard decision but try and think of what’s right for you. There is no right or wrong. Im still anxious but don’t think I can cope with an emergency C or failed induction.

I ended up having a c section at 41+6 as my induction kept getting delayed they took me in Thursday night and I had the c section Saturday morning as baby was 9lb 9oz I would 100% opt for one next time it was a calming experience and I wish I opted for it sooner as the hospital kept putting off my induction due to been to busy with people going into Labour naturally so the build up was horrendous when I could have avoided that and Iv been out and about walking and I’m only 10 days post section I know some take longer to recover but I would do it again in a heartbeat x

Personally I would opt for a c section. I had an augmentation (similar to induction but my waters had already broken). I hyperstimulated from a pessary and ended up with an emergency c section. Second time around I would only be able to have manual induction (balloon catheter, break waters and forceps) so opted for an elective c section (then ended up with another emergency one 🤦🏻‍♀️). I haven’t heard many positive induction stories at all but may just be that the people I know have been unlucky.

I was induced last Friday. I had dilapan and they did their job and then taken out on the Saturday and also had a sweep on the Saturday. Was called into the delivery suite on the Sunday afternoon and I pretty much went through everything possible until it finally resulted in an emergency section on Monday morning. It was a really tough few days! They estimated that my son would be 8lb 5 however he ended up being 9lb 11 and i’m quite petite (5’3). I wish they had estimated better as if they had I wouldn’t have had to go through what I did and would have elected for section! I was also 10 days overdue before he finally came out!
