PCOS or pregnant?

Help! Trying to figure out if I could possibly be pregnant, or if I just have some kind of hormonal imbalance or PCOS. Bear with me as this is a long one. Any insight is appreciated! My period is currently 2 weeks late. Had all the PMS symptoms and thought for sure it was going to start, but it never did. Have had a full feeling in my lower abdomen and some cramping too, which I don’t typically even get with my periods anymore, in addition to some other symptoms. My cycles have been somewhat irregular since having my 2nd child, but I have never completely skipped a period ever aside from during pregnancy. I started birth control in my teens due to cysts on my ovaries at the time. Stayed on it for over 10 years until stopping to try to conceive. Got pregnant with my first almost instantly after going off the pill. No issues conceiving with my second either. Refused to ever go back on birth control due to the negative side effects I experienced with it so my husband got a vasectomy. However, he never went back to make sure that it actually worked, we’ve just assumed that it did since we’ve been ok thus far. I took a pregnancy test a few days ago and it was negative. Weirdly both times I was pregnant I ended up going to my ob/gyn with symptoms & missed periods but negative pregnancy tests (both at home and in their office). And then I would test positive within a week or so later. I was told at that time that I likely had PCOS, until they realized I was actually just pregnant. So I don’t know if this is the same, or if I actually do have PCOS. I feel like because my husband had the vasectomy that it’s highly unlikely that I’m pregnant, but part of me still feels like it’s a possibility. And yes I’m planning to retest as well as see my doctor this week, but so far was told that it’s probably just a hormonal imbalance. I’m just wondering why now out of nowhere I would randomly miss a period when that’s never happened before and nothing has changed to warrant it. Has anything similar happened to anyone else? If you have PCOS, what are your cycles like/did you just randomly start missing periods out of nowhere? How did you get properly diagnosed? Thank you!

I have pcos that has happened to me before when I was eating wrong and being unhealthy I ended up not being pregnant and the period like feeling was coming and going for a month then eventually showed herself pcos gives horrible symptoms

@Ria hmm good to know. Definitely have not been eating as well as I’d like to lately but getting back on track this week

It is totally possible it’s PCOS. A horomone test and ultrasound would diagnose that. If it’s not, it could be endometriosis which can cause cramping, bloating, weird periods, nausea and all kinds of other fun symptoms. My bloating right now is so bad I look 4 months pregnant. Ovarian cysts can come along with either PCOS or Endo, but based on the fact that you got pregnant right away with both kids I would say Endo might be more likely than PCOS. Good luck!

@Travis thank you! I have endometriosis on my list of things to ask about as well. I’ve tried bringing up my irregular periods with my gyn before and he just says it’s stress 😒Going to see a female doctor this week & hopefully get some more insight

I’m on a 10 year battle to get a proper Endo diagnosis. Finally have a surgery consultation tomorrow. It’s extremely frustrating but keep trying!!

My friends pregnant now and her husband had a vasectomy so I could happen

Just an update: my period started today after an almost 50 day cycle. Getting bloodwork done to hopefully see what might be causing the irregularity. Thanks for all your comments ❤️
