How to dress a baby when you can’t afford heating all night

My son is 9 months old and at night his room at the moment is getting to 10/11 degrees. I dress him in long sleeved bodysuit, a baby grow and a 2.5 tog sleeping bag but he is still showing signs of being cold in his sleep. Crunching up, wetting through nappies, hands feel freezing and he’s sleeping deeper and I’m worried but I can’t afford to have the heating on all night. I always have it on before bedtime but the temperature drops so quickly. Any tips on how I can dress him warmer in a safe way? I always put extra socks on under his babygrow

You could potentially just heat his room instead of your whole home at night. Either by keeping the heating on at night (but turning all the radiators off in the other rooms except his). Or buy a little plug in radiator or similar for his room (although this will of course use electricity). Think about draught proofing too - any windows etc or doors that have gaps are draughty and can bring the temp down. Also, speak to your energy company and tell them your situation. All energy companies have a responsibility to help households that are struggling - especially those with a baby etc.

You can buy heaters that turn off once the room is warm and once the room cools it will come back on I have a two year old and he crunches up in his sleep and he has ever since he was a baby you could get mittens for his hands or there are those onesie that have hand covers or a sleeping bag with no arm holes in

My daughters room gets quite cold. Around 15 and she seemed cold. I bought 2.5 tog sleep suits with arms from sainsbury's ( around £12) and they work way better than sleeping bags for me because of the arms.

I have a long sleeve sleep suit under with a long sleeve vest or romper. She seems to be ok now.

Oil radiators are ok but very expensive to run, so I dont reccomend. Good curtains that are lined, check for drafts, a draft exclude on the outside of the door, socks on the feet, hot water bottle on the floor under the cot (sounds mad but it radiates a small amount of heat, obvs dont put it in the cot) add a rug and soft furnishings to the room if you can

You're doing a great job 😊

Can you run a space heater? They make some that turn off once it gets to a set temp, but be sure it isn’t next to anything that can potentially cause a fire.
I recently bought one for bathtime because our bathroom gets very cold.
If you feel comfortable enough, pm me your name and address and ill have one shipped to you from Amazon ❤️🎄

Can you move him in your room for the winter period? So you don't have to heat up his room at all..
