It’s best to wait 6 months because of their digestive system isn’t fully developed x

My pediatrician says it’s okay to start solids. As long as your LO has good head control and developmentally where they need to be it’s 100% fine per our pediatrician. I’m also in the same boat where idk where to start! I think I might introduce a healthy fat like avocados. My LO is 5 months old next week too

My pediatrician gave me the go ahead to do baby lead weaning. Baby eats what I eat in small portions and cut up in safe sizes. I also keep in mind salt and seasonings because that could easily upset babies tummy. If we are having something that I don’t think he’s ready for I will do purée baby food with oatmeal mixed in to make it thicker.

what did you initially start with?

My little one will be 5 months next week and I’m planning to star weaning him, he can control his head and he’s really interested in foods.
My plan is :
3 days courgettes
3days carrots
3days sweet potato
Then mix veg
And fruits

My baby started baby at four months. Doctor said he was strong enough for it and I'm going to start solids at six months. Doctor said it was fine and he's super strong for his age

Our pediatrician gave us the green light at 4 month appointment. So far she tried puréed beets, puréed carrots. Steamed the carrots first. And for beets, I bought cooked beets and puréed them. She also tried a small amount of peanut butter mixed with her milk. Our pediatrician said there is growing research that it’s good for them to get exposure to peanuts before 6 months but that one really made me nervous!

I started introducing solids at 4 months . pediatrician gave the green light.

I started with sweet potatoes mixed w oatmeal. She’s not a huge fan of food just yet so we’re going to push it off till 6 months and see if that works.

I started with pastas actually! With purée I suggest doing fruits first since some babies take a few months to develop their tastebuds for veggies and meats. Anytime I have spaghetti he will get a little tomato sauce and cut up noodles. I mix my burger so I make his separate since the burger is very well seasoned haha. He loves Alfredo too. We tried parts of pizza the other day and loved olives.

oh my goodness I love that! I’m so nervous lol

Highly suggest the Solids Starts App! It will show you nutritional value and safe ways to feed! He’s still getting his nutrients from formula so right now I’m just making food time fun and learning with him.

thank you !!

oh wow 😯 I've heard that you shouldn't do fruits first so they don't become a picky eater
I wouldn't have thought to start with pastas, but I like your ideas on how to offer him foods like spaghetti.... And even pizza ( offer him parts of it)
... Since we do pizza once a week 😜😁

Oh yes, food before 1 is just for fun ☺️😁

he’s not a fan of the cheese of the pizza but loves the olives, crust, and pepperoni haha!

My daughter is 5 months old. We've tried banana, avocado, potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams, eggs, chicken, and refried beans.

that’s what I’m tryna do w my LO cause my oldest legit will not eat vegetables. Will literally make herself throw up 😂

My pediatrician gave me the okay to start with pureé it just has to be thin enough. So far she's tried sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, bananas, strawberries, & butternut squash

Solids shouldn’t replace breastmilk until age 1. I would focus on your supply and what you can do to boost it then start doing solids.

This is very true! I kind of missed that part of the post. But yes, I agree! I'm doing solids with my baby. But right now it's really just for fun. I don't even do solids every day at this point. My daughter's pedi said that at this point solids shouldn't even be replacing a nursing session, because they shouldn't be eating enough solids to get full off of.
