Hi All. We have just been told that we have unexplained infertility and that I have a low ovarian reserve. My partner sperm is all fine. The consultant advised us to try IVF. Has anyone had a similar experience and can advise on anything I can do to help increase my chances on conception? I am 33 and generally healthy and an average weight and the consultant said we can try naturally until we start the treatment. Any advise would be much appreciated as I feel like it’s all my fault that we aren’t able to conceive 😭

I second the CoQ10, and also recommend NAC and DHA. I was taking these, alongside with pregnancy multivitamins, prior and during TTC.

Also.. have you read “It Starts with the Egg”!? By Rebecca Fett!? Try to follow that as much as you can

Good luck and I’m so sorry you’re getting this news and dealing with the next steps. Unexplained infertility is a heartbreaking diagnosis, but we have been so thankful for science! Don’t lose hope

thank you! I will try these. I can’t remember what the consultant said about egg quality but will ask x

thank you! I have been taking pregnacare for over a year now but will try these as well x

thank you for all the advice! I will try them all and just clinging on to the hope that there is still a chance to conceive naturally x

I have low ovarian reserve too. I was diagnosed at 31 after trying naturally for a year. It’s a hard diagnosis to cope with 😔

I am so sorry and feel your pain :( what are the next steps for you?

That was one year ago, and we have done 3 unsuccessful IVF cycles and 3 unsuccessful IUIs. My follicles really didn’t respond to the medications and I could only ever get 1-2 follicles to a mature size so the odds were against us with IVF and we never even got any embryos to transfer. We are doing donor eggs now so was a hard decision but when it seems like nothing else is working, it seems to be our only option!

I have low ovarian reserve as well and am 35. We have been trying to conceive for over two years. Did our first round of IVF this year but was unsuccessful so we are waiting for a date to start again with it. O’Neill look into the vitamins too. I have been taking pregnecare so far but that’s it x

I am sorry to hear this and fingers crossed that the donor eggs work for you xx

thank you for sharing Victoria and I am sorry for your loss. Sending positivity your way xx

I hope the second round works for you! The consultant said that IVF has around 50% chance of working so fingers crossed the second round is the one for you xx

I’m so sorry to hear, and I really am sending you all of the positive energy. I have a very low ovarian reserve. So low that three years ago I froze my eggs - I had to go through three rounds to gather enough.
We thought IVF was going to be the route, but we decided to try medicated cycles with letrozole and a trigger shot.
The first round of doing this, I actually fell pregnant. I’m currently two months. It’s worth looking into xx

thank you Steph. Did the Doctors recommend the medicated cycle? It’s not something I’ve heard of before but will research in to it. Congratulations on your pregnancy and so nice to hear a success story xx

yes, so I went to a private women’s clinic and our doctor recommended it. Ask yours about Letrozole or Chlomid - those are the two most commonly prescribed medicated cycle tablets in the UK.
You take the oral tabs for 5 days (day 2-6 of your cycle usually) to ensure that a follicle definitely matures in your ovaries.
Around your ovulation you are given what’s known as a trigger shot - this is a HCG injection - painless mini injection, which will trigger ovulation within 24-48hrs.
You then have timed intercourse within this window and wait 14 days for a pregnancy test. Some women take extra progesterone during this time to make sure that they don’t have their period, this will give the embryo the chance to embed. X

thank you! I will research and ask the consultant about this as well x

heyyy congrats!! Which clinic are you with? You can DM if you want. I have tried this option too with my last consultant but they’ve now left! X
