I’m due to start IVF but as it’s winter in the UK it’s been cold as hell at night. I’ve been using an electric blanket under my sheets to help me keep warm, but I’ve been reading online about them and how they can affect fertility and egg quality and I’ now worried I’ve damaged my eggs. Egg collection is approx 6 weeks away, so I’ve put away the electric blanket and ordered some thermals and a hot water bottle instead. Has anyone used electric blankets and gone ok to have successful treatment?
Worried that after all the vitamins, removing toxic products and losing weight, I’ve been stupid and scuppered our chances before we’ve even begun. Only used when sleeping in a separate room so partner hasn’t been affected.

There’s really not reputable studies on this with humans to suggest this is an issue at all. Using a heated blanket is extremely unlikely to have any sort of significant impact on your egg quality. It’s more something to avoid during the TWW and early pregnancy because it can raise your core body temp which you need to avoid if you’re pregnant.

thank you, I’ve been worried about this all day. I’ll be avoiding raising my core temperature during TWW from now on and if I ever get a BFP ❤️

you’re most welcome. Wishing you the best of luck with your retrieval!

thank you, happy new year to you x 🎉
