Hi! My little girl is 22 months old but doesn't speak yet. Anyone else in this situation? She only makes sounds and babbles but no actual word except mama and dada but with no meaning attached to us as mamma and dada. When I read books she knows which story. When we sing baby songs she knows when certain words occur and she'll imitate them with sounds but won't actually repeat. Like the wheels on the bus song she will make sound for round town beep I love you etc but no actual words spoken yet with meaning to it. Should I be worried?
It's like she communicates well through actions rather than words

Following, my son is 21 months and is the exact same - though if you ask him to point at a certain object he will do so. I have contacted my health visitor about his development of which he has scored on the low scale but they refuse to assess him until he’s two as he’s still an ‘infant’. X

My boy is same, but when i told him to bring me something or do something he know what to do,but still not speaking.

My little boy is exactly the same, he can fill in the gap in some nursery rhymes but no other communication. Can I ask if your little one points?
she doesn't point at things. But she go gets what she needs or sometimes if I make animal sounds she will go pick the corresponding book

My daughter is a lot more physical than verbal. We were told that because most of her energy and concentration is going on the physical stuff that her speech will develop at a later stage. It’s really nothing to worry about x

I think our kids are lazy lol. My son’s the same. He knows what I’m talking about and will listen and sometimes thinks he’s having full conversations but it’s all babble. He can say stuff in sign language which is great. But when it comes to actual works he has started to say some but it’s more like babble of that word. So like he said the same syllables for chapstick or Santa but didn’t fully actually say the word. We ask him to and he just doesn’t care.

Have a chat with Speech and Language UK. It's free and super helpful! We are in the same situation but they won't do anything in my area until 30months when they will put them on a waiting list for SALT.

My almost 22 months old has really great receptive language (we’re trilingual) but no words except from Mamma.
Things I am doing:
Getting his hearing checked at the GP this month. Just to rule it out.
I am doing the Raising Little Talkers Method. You can find her on IG.
I have started working with a naturopath to investigate some underlying issues which may contribute to a speech delay: MTHFR gene mutation/poor methylation, heavy metal toxicity, especially mercury and aluminium. Low vitamin B12 & low DHA, amongst other things.
And prayer 🙏🏻

this resonates. My son is very physical. He walked early. He loves going up and down the stairs on his own, lifting heavy objects, climbing etc.. but he won’t talk yet 🙆🏻♀️
